Strop/Flip line

I use one of those blue Swedish strop things with the rope grab.

Cheers Timon,i fancied the zillon a while back but plumed for the positioner instead,just didnt fancy payin the money to get the zillon lanyard replaced if it got overly worn.Bit cheeky by petzl imo,grillon was the same if i remember.

Like you,my flipline lies practically redundant now but i dont do many big stems that would merit it.

I use a 5 meter strop that is always been enough for the trees i encounter.

I know your not supposed to use other rope with Grillon/zillon etc but rope is rope surely.

Im of the same opinion,ive plenty of rope off cuts kickin around the lockup i could use but for loler purposes it is to be replaced by the petzl rope.

The rope that comes with the Zillon lets it down IMO. Not tried it with a different rope but should be just as good as the zigzag I would have thought

My Grillon is good it is smooth but it is clumsy big. I was thinking about a positioner or a zillon to match the ZZ but can't find much feedback for the zillon.

Yeah the zillon looks tempting too wes. My grillon is getting on and should be replaced soon. Yeah its a toss up between that and the ap.

 

I am pretty sure that you can use whatever rope you like in the grillon, assuming it runs ok, you do not have to buy their own massively overpriced length.

My Grillon has Yale xtc fire in it at the moment and works a treat the Grillon rope is awful think my original rope was spent after a week!!

Have zillion liked it but now use art on 11.7mm its whole different game now

I can't think of a single advantage of any of these over a short VT with a pulley.

Maybe I'm just tight.
