These small gx can suffer from the gasket between carb and head.

Maybe it's the tank vent. Have you tried leaving the gas cap open?

Second this...

If it runs fine and stops it does sound like a fuel issue. Tank vent blocked.

Interested to see how this one pans out - we have a similar engine on one of our generators which will run fine after we fit a new spark plug, but then won't restart after it has been stopped. Six plugs fitted so far but no lasting remedy!

Have you tried anothr coil ?

I have tried to run it with the petrol cap off still no good and tried with air filter off and no good.If it runs for 2 minutes would this not suggest that it is not a coil problem?

It would suggest that your tank vent is not blocked nor is your air filter .

On another site a guy advised me to use a small shot of easy start as the engine started to die and if it kept going it would indicate a fuel problem.I don't like using starting fluid but when I gave the engine a gentle spray it gave a small bang and stopped when I pulled the cord again off she went like the clappers I have used her for most of the day with no problems.Thank you all for taking the time to reply.
