Indeed it is, used a tunrtable one with 100hp Kubota great bit of kit, pricey I'd imagine and not as many about as the BC1000 we owned a couple of these they are okay and pretty basic but the single feed roller limits it a bit and it can be a pain to work on, older ones had drum issues and hearing issues if not well maintained.

 

I like the Bandits because they are ugly and generally easy to fix/maintain with good performance.

Compared to the BC1000 another outfit has, out Bandit beats it hands down. I don't think you can mount a winch (as standard) on the Vermeer, the bottom nudge bar is a pain as every time you lift something up in to the tray and it hits the bar it stops the rollers. Just find the Bandit is a much nicer machine all round, easy to work on, fuel efficient and chews everything we throw at it pretty much. If it was my own money I'd have one in a heart beat and the 990 seems to be the perfect size for pretty much every job we do.

12" chippers, I would look at the BC1200 with hydraulic crush as standard and the ability to fit a winch. Saftey bar is for your safety. And all chippers will need bottom feed bars. But with the Vermeer you can override the bottom safety bar, as long as it is safe to do so. And you can have Vermeer Tree commander if you are crane feeding.You can control all features of the chipper remotely.
