You know the colour of a good free range egg yolk Al - that rich and bright yellow? My dad had an Allegro that colour. :puke:

Dad had a similar coloured Morris Marina Coupe back in the early 1980's, hell i can still remember the reg number :blushing:

My first car was a maxi 1750 that I inherited from my grandad, ugly but comfortable and surprisingly quick for something that resembled a slug. Hydrostatic suspension was good until you got a leak and started listing.

Also a superb passion wagon as the seats all laid flat to make a comfy bed[emoji3]

Back on topic I have an old trekkasaw that runs of PTO

Presume it's an early one as serial number is 002

I have some hand written notes, somewhere, from Paul Elsey/Richard Slatem on overcoming teething troubles.

It's an original trekkasaw, I can't be sure about the blokes but I think it is the son-in-law of the chap that took them on from the late Paul Elsey, Atkinson IIRC. He owned the Quarry at Betchworth from which they operated. At the time, or shortly after, the founder of Fuelwood, Richard Slatem, was the marketing manager.

Afterward the chap with the Trekkasaw operated out of Ockley, I loaned him my timber tongs and then lost contact.

It came to me, his name is Greg Hopkins

Is that the guy in the pics? If so you are a star. Not important in the grand scheme of things maybe but to put the pieces together after 30 years would be so good - the known source of the timber, another Arbtalker that used the same machine, my lad using some of the last known board for his table and now perhaps the name of the guy milling the tree.

The pics are going to be kept in an envelope taped to the underneath of the table in a flat in West Dulwich.

I'm sure I wasn't this sentimental as a young man!

I've tracked down the above gent and spoken to him. It seems there were a few Trekkasaws about at the time as they were made in Dorking and he worked for the manufacturers before setting out alone.

It's almost certainly him in the pics as he had the Hilux there.

I think the jigsaw is complete. My thanks to all who have contributed.
