Whats fallen out of my 550's exhaust?

Picked up my 550 to find a rattle in the exhaust.

 

Fearing that whatever it was might find its way back into the cylinder I pulled this through the exit....

 

 

Obviously by pulling this through the exhaust, I've made the exit hole quite a lot bigger. Saw sounds awesome now but do you think it will be detrimental 1 not having this part in the exhaust and 2 that I've made the exit rather large ?

Looks like the outlet internal pipe to me. It is a tube with a support that is welded inside the muffler. You could cut the outlet shroud, fold it back and braze in a new pipe or just leave it as is, as long as all the debris is removed, it should be OK.

Leave it off/out . Instant MM and A/T will compensate .

It does sound like a motor cross bike now and seems to run better for it too! Maybe a bit of your expertise and magic is needed to port it up and make the hole I made look a little better and turn this saw into another one if you monsters spud??

Not a problem, am sure I can breath a bit of fire in to its belly:thumbup:

I have some thing rattling in mine as well, it hasnt changed the sound tho.

Was cutting through some oak today and I've now got something rattling around in the exhaust of my 550xpg.... shaking it sounds like a metal money box now!

 

I can see something is rolling around inside the muffler.

A new one is £40

I don't want to spend £40 so gonna have a go at removing it...

It's probably a baffle. I had 2 do that. If you can remove it you are some kind of magician!! I carried in with both mufflers for a long time and it never wore down small enough to make its way back in the cylinder so you'll be alright for now.

 

 

Scrap that just read the rest of the thread 🤦‍♂️
