Nice video. Puzzled as to why you chose to rig some of the top sections and not others?

Cheers,

anything where the butt end might've punched big holes in the tarmac was rigged and run to ground tips first to take the sting out of it. There is a lot more rigging in the raw footage which would've probably helped explained the general approach but not enough time to make a longer vid.

The higher top sections were light enough not to damage the tarmac.

......yes, nearer to ground the worse the decay, Kretzch. Areas in red gone. Hence the minimal rigging and letting it run to ground on anything that might've seriously wrecked the tarmac.

You can see a long column of decay running up the trunk in the final pic.

Thanks for the further info & images Tim, appreciated

Fair do's

you could've rigged everything that was above roadside conventionally and not let it run all the way to ground but would've taken a long time. The tarmac was solid enough to take the impact of the branch tips so it meant bigger branches could be rigged as the ground was helping to absorb the load. Your almost just guiding the branches down tip first into the deck.

Anyway, this was the road after the tree came down, no damage at all, which is what the client is paying for at the end of the day.

Good work Tim.

I enjoyed the cutting and filming.

Yes it was well done wasn't it...

What with the camera work, the sound effects and the score, it pretty much made it a perfect little vid....

I've watched it several times now and I'm still impressed....once I post this, I'm gonna watch again...

11/10 believe me, from me, thats praise indeed... :thumbup1:
