It's difficult to compare it to my current machine (bandit 2550) as has a smaller engine, tracked and manual. The cutter wheel spins at a slower rate than the bandit, but seems to have a heavier wheel and uses more teeth (24). Also the bandit uses 900 greenteeth where as the Herder uses 1100 greenteeth. Despite all this the cut appeared very similar. I have a video of the slow motion cutting of both herder and bandit on Instagram and Facebook. Will try to post here later when I can get back to the office.

The machine was compact and seemed well designed and well built. I have asked to have a go at a remote version. When it turned up I wasn't sure and the speed of the cutter wheel was not what I expected, but it surprised me. It's always difficult with new machines as you are unsure how they will stand up long term or how they will cope with different types of wood. Oak is easy - may be different story on willow, pop or robinia

Seems fine, is that grease nipple sticking out a little on the grind wheel? Could cause issues when going deep.

Yes grease nipple on side of cutter wheel. Didn't find that a problem, but then found guard annoying. Would be the first thing to come off. They don't put guard on larger version so not sure why on this version. Not sure how effective it would be as a guard anyway if you are that close you are in trouble.
