get the scouts in for a sunday shift, make a donation and get a big bbq going for them, job done. did you see mikes home made skyline with a tirfor and block and tackle, worked a treat. set up the top line, then just attach the block in tackle and horse it up then send it down the line.

Yeah, horse logging did cross my mind. Don't want to dirty the timber tho with skidding?..?

Might be worth speaking to Nathan at Home forestry, I know he used to go out contracting with one of his Alstors, am sure I've seen one on bandtracks too so damage shouldn't be a problem.

How about blocking of the car park and sending timber down the half drainpipe technique? Bit of a rush at the bottom but goes down them chutes quick!

PeteB`s idea of a log chute, cheap to do and very effective, we used scaffold debris chutes, cheap to hire and can be clipped together to make a very long run.

a little 1-3ton yanmar tracked dumper perhaps... cheap and easy to get hold of anyways

We used two tracters with two winches, that were conected at the top via a big pully. One winch pulled the timber down, the other pulled the cable back. You need very good comunication between the man chockering and the people on the machinery for the system to work safely (and very low tree stumps). This will not work on large site but it might fit the bill for you and it is a lot cheaper to set up than a skyline.
