Quiet chainsaw recomendations.

They aren't silent but the battery Stihl is a lot quieter than a 2-stroke. A friend of mine bought one for firewood etc. in his own city centre garden and it doesn't annoy the neighbours. The sound is at a different pitch and doesn't seem to travel.

Alec

Thanks.

That is what I was hoping for. Guessing the same principles apply to the 'cabled' electric saws which quite a bit cheaper?

A friend of mine uses a Screwfix 2000w Titan saw for firewood and it's not silent but it's nowhere near the noise of a petrol saw. Biggest noise is the chain going round the bar. Well worth the £50 it cost him

Would not both with a Titan chainsaw last time I was in screwfix the person at customer services had returned one and he said it was the third time he had returned one:thumbdown:

That's fair comment but I've had a few Titan tools from screwfix that have lasted well and on the whole I'd have to say that even although they're competitively priced they're not complete crap.

There's also do bosch, oregon makita and others if you don't like the Titan, cheers.
