6 to 8 ton of newly felled beech

I've just given two tons of beech to a local log man (a member on here). I'm happy to get shot of it and have him clear the stuff off site. He's happy to get a 'load' for free.

Last time I tried selling a tree I was told to ???? off by the local loggies.

Still, like you say, its a learning curve. Good luck

Also gotta say removing a 80ft and 60 ft beech isn't a shabby start for a newbie.

Well done.

Sounds like you have your hands tied a bit if you need shot asap. Presuming that you charged the customer to haul timber away, if you can find a local timber merchant to collect from site for free, then you're laughing.

Little word of advice, dont let the customer get you to reduce price for you to have timber, always charge them to take it away unless you can defo make in it.

I've just sold about 12t of over sized beech for about £200 (in 3m lengths). Many people see my lorry leaving full of timber and think I'm making serious money on it. It just not the case esp with Arb waste. My view is if I can get more than £30 per t I'm doing very well. Too much work in the big stuff, so much has of it goes on the pulp wood pile if there's no local takers. Value of wood starts low and increases every time it's move or handled.

Good luck with it. Also where are you?

Just as a comparison, I carted 6 tons of oversize beech for a tree surgeon. He was happy to see it go off site for nothing as he didn't have to deal with it.

Gave him £30 for loading it.

Good firewood for me - I have time to process it at my leisure but wouldn't be viable for a log-seller.
