I had a break in, lost 2.5k of kit. That was October last year. My renewal has come through and Aviva, the underwriters have increased my excess from 250 for small plant and 500 for any one item over 5k to £1000.00 per claim. This is utterly outrageous.

The jobs hard enough. I could rant on and on but I'm too disappointed now with the lack of back up from the "big companies" who have taken, so much of my money, currently and in the past. As to the future, well I am going to review every Aviva policy I have.

Just thought I'd ask if anyone else has had to put up with the same?

Someone once likened insurance to betting that something nasty will happen.

When it doesnt, you lose the bet. You only win when it DOES happen. But then you have a history of claims so you are a higher risk.

Its always our fault for claiming - we must be punished.

Has anyone ever been to Norwich and seen the main entrance hall that Norwich Union (Aviva) have. All that marble has to be paid for somehow.

I worked for NU for 7 years - they were the most pushy and obnoxious bastards I ever dealt with. I would NEVER insure with them, and I even cheer every couple of years when Norwich City get relegated.

I had a chipper nicked - the insurers paid out with no issues (which was excellent). However, my renewal doubled - they basically tried to get half their money back in one hit. I had no choice but to move my business elsewhere (I expected an increase and ended up paying more than before, but they were taking the Mickey!).

Through Arborisk Bartlett. They've been great but they still pass all this on and didn't really highlight the pitfalls

Yes, spent some money too but it turns out they are more interested in their returns than what's actually happening in the real world. Black and white, made a claim, well you've now to pay back their payout! It seems
