agreed! if migrants are good for the economy why do they come from countries with poor economies? If they couldn't help their own economies how will they help ours? Yes some will help but I fear their contribution will be undone by the strain of those who are a burden to our economy.

If the economy is strong then labour is required and a benefit, if your economy is poor extra labour is no help.

The analogy of well Greece is struggling ship the migrants there is flawed it will only worsen their economy and is a simplistic way of looking at it.

Our problem is we are inherently racist, how many of us socialise with Eastern Europeans out of choice? Again this is a simplistic way of looking at a multi faceted problem but it is a point.

I am married to a Romanian by the way and have been for 10 years, she studied law and gave up a good career prospect to remain in the U.K with me.

Its going to be hard to call in both seats... easier to predict Stoke on Trent, in that no ones gonna vote for a scouser....

The remain vote don't know where to go at present, libs are nowhere in these constituencies and the Brexit votes gonna be split two ways....

If I was a betting man, I'd go for Labour holding both seats by the skin of their teeth....Just.....

Are you a Stokie Vesp?

I've just consulted the boss, she disagrees with you on that Scouser thing.

If I were a betting man I'd have a tenner on Labour joining the LibDems in lost deposit territory.

I'd dare bet Vesp isn't from Stoke. My money would say he's further North-west.

It's a tough one to call. Stoke is Labour through and through, even though the people know that the Labour Party have done a terrible job in the city over the years!

The Scouser thing is another tough call, we don't, and never have liked each other.

I'd expect it to be a tough call Mr E, given the Labour history in Stoke, but I think they have royally balls it up of late.

Can't remember her name, but the Lab MP who campaigned for Remain despite every constituent she met saying they were voting leave (it was a TV news feature, C4 I think). Add to that the current Marxist elitist management of Lab party (the Notting Hill set), and the apparent feeling of neglect for the "traditional" core Lab vote, maybe offset a little by hard line Momentum lunatic fringe apparent popularity, but then further adjusted by the the higher than average BNP popularity, the strength of the OUT vote, the underlying grievances regarding immigration and it certainly makes for an interesting mix!

For my money, I'd bung it all on Nuttall, I think this is the best possible opportunity he will ever have to get a seat - and I hope he does!

So now you believe all immigrants are in low income employment..

What about the 30% of NHS doctors who are non nationals..or the others who have skilled jobs-managers,web designers, architects etc

Your opinion seems to be formed on the assumption thats all immigrants are either benefit scroungers or minimum wage earners which simply isnt the case

Your wasting your time.

Their opinions are based on stereotypes and bigotry.

Common sense and opinions based on research into the relevant subjects have no place here.

Just saying loike, there appears to be 2 opposing arguments, 1 appears to try to suggest that all immigrants are a net loss to the economy, t'other appears to try to suggest that all immigrants are a net gain to the economy.

Personally, I don't think either is true in an absolute sense which is why a points or selective system of inward migration is the only logical solution.

Can't understand how that could be seen as anything other than the blindingly obvious? :confused1:

I totally agree with your analysis, ive never stated all immigrants are contributing to the economy because it simply isnt true.

What i do take exception to is some think all immigrants are scroungers or in low income employment which simply isnt true either.

I detest the fact that some on here form there opinions on stereotypes and the bias of farage and co.

I hear you! :thumbup1:

Although I rather like Farage! He qualifies in all respects for a Knighthood in my opinion.
