Coolant flush and change. Jensen 530T

Could anyone direct me how to do this please?

 

Needs to be done as i suspect the coolant is rated to -15c as stated on the machine, but temperatures here can plummet to -30c :scared1:

 

As i understand its drain from the radiator, refill with water, run with radiator cap off for 10 min, drain again, refill with coolant, cap on and done?

 

what about bleeding air out?

Rip the bottom hose off, refit and refill with water/antifreeze mix to the top of the radiator. Switch engine on and run for seconds, check level is to the top still and that should do it okay. Might be worth putting in some decent cold weather engine oil too.

Get a Bucket.

 

Drain rad and engine block into the bucket by removing bottom hose at rad,if its tight don't try and pry it off,if you dent the spigot on the rad it will be harder to seal.

 

Get the bucket out of the way and flush the rad using a gardern hose through the header tank.

 

Refill the tank with 50% antifreeze by volume of what you drained out.

Topp it up with water.

Start and run for five minutes

Check level.

 

Biltema sells antifreeze test kits mate,cheap as and will tell you have good your fluid is.I drain and flush everything each year.

If you have copper or brass in your system use a glycol based antifreeze which degrades over time so should be changed every two or three years.

Otherwise best to use the long life organic acid technology antifreeze which does not degrade. Do not mix the two types.

Bear in mind that if you keep pulling hoses off unnecessarily you will decrease the reliability of your system.
