well most of my granddads customers he has had for years so he knows what size they want, so when they order a load, we just cut that length

 

Yeh, no worries, i was really wondering if you cut to order, and if so, how do you manage to get them dry as even lengths that have been stood on a heap for years are still not really dry when you split them.

 

Its a nice situation if you can provide a service thats as flexible as different log lengths. However, i found that its a lot of messing around doing different sizes, but firwood is not a major part of my business so if customers dont like the size i supply its tuff! I always sell out as they are!

well we either have stuff split into lengths for drying, then cut it into blocks when a order comes through, but to be honest most of our stuff is still in lengths in the yard and we just cut it when an order comes through, we sell our firewood cheaper than most people because its isnt the highest quality firewood around, but we never have any compliants :)
