if you are questioning what that means it's a term used for logs that are of a high enough quality to be peeled for various veneer purposes. some can be decorative and some can be structural.

No I was questioning the process of veneering,..i have shipped a lot of timber for veneer ,.mostly yew,but I can honestly say that in 40 odd years in the trade beech is a new one on me.

I stand to be corrected, but I think a lot of plywood comes with beech faces.

I'm quite up for a 4ft + bit of beech. Got a project in mind for it. Problem is one couldn't collect a 8 tonne load like the op's log. And this project wouldn't warrant a paying for a lorry.

Amy how would happily pay 100 a tonne for a 4ft by 2.4m ish clean length.

Could collect on my trailer then.

Good evening all.

We felled this Beech at the end of November and have had the stem sat in the yard since.

we are looking at selling the timber. Offers welcome.

Potential buyer will have to collect from Royston, Hertfordshire. Can arrange for timber to be lifted onto transport. it weighs approx 10tonne. This was judged on the cranes capacity being 10tonne and it only just managed to lift each side on the truck.

Please contact me on 07725808887 or [email protected]

See my last post. If no one takes this off you I will come collect the first length of 2.4m or so. Pm me if no one takes it all.
