roads around here are kept pretty much clear all winter been was traveling through glencoe twice a day for last 2 winters and think I was in 4wd once and that was at 6 in the morning before the ploughs were out

dont think there is much snow there at the moment good place to have a look at the roads go to traffic scotland-live cameras- then altnafaedh a82 camera is less than a mile from the ski centre and one of the worst bits for snow blowing onto the road

Great info thanks people I will have a look at that camera. I went up last March and the weather was fantastic . It was raining down south and I was on the mountains with sun tan cream on.

That could have been Pitlochry - which is only an hour or so from Glenshee

Thats the one, thanks. Went to really nice restaurant and the Hotel was excellent.

The quality of the driver is the first consideration after that it's tyres and then the vehicle in my experience. If the rav has decent tyres I'd save the fuel money and put a couple of bags of grit sand and a shovel in the boot. If it looks suspect stop on road/ground you can get going again on and walk any dodgy bits and plan it, job jobbed for me.

Or just wait for the lads passport to come through and fly to the alps and watch grannies drive clios up sheet ice to buy a loaf.

Winter tyres will do you almost anywhere in Scotland. Four wheel drive is nice to have in muddy fields, but I think largely unnecessary for roads, irrespective of snow and ice. We've have 4 season tyres on our Disco 4 and the Citroen Relay van and grip is never an issue.

 Have to agree :thumbup1:

Having recently changed our Disco3 for an Amazon, I missed the Disco at first, but really, really like the Amazon now.

Had mine about 12 years and no regrets. Amazed mine still goes the amount we have towed with it.
