The most important thing the programme showed is the vital importance of getting a few quotes. When most people are dealing with work that they know nothing/very little about, like plumbing or electrical, they have no other way of finding out if the quote they have been given is correct or not. All service professions like ours have their own rogue traders who will take advantage of the public's lack of knowledge in their relevant field.

the figure was ultimately irrelevant. the bbc were paying so they would have paid whatever the guy asked just to get some good tv. had it been real, its unlikely the customer would have accepted..

perhaps they should have got the customer to turn down the price to see if they had resorted to buly tactics?

You mean TV programs are all made up?

Apparently ther is to be a new programme on the matter

this is linked to the subject

Arboricultural Association in talks with BBC over New Year Watchdog show | Arboriculture News | Horticulture Week

I will be VERY interested in the outline of the representation put forward

good news!

hopefully if they set someone up again, they will get them to do something more than fell three 4-inch diameter trees. like a tricky dismantle over obstacles.
