I've never used props, never Evan given it a thought but can see its use. We use a throw line to instal a good line (old 19mm rigging line last time - well it was old and retired afterwards ) then hook the tirfor to that to hold it up. We have anchored the winch to anything available from diggers, the truck to trees or Evan a ground anchor if nothing else is available.

like the throw line installation of a rigging line and the tirfor - a windthrow climb seems a bit russian roulette, but hamdog made it look easy

Good Work Hamdogg, I bet you were over the moon when that top came off. Did it spring back at any point? assuming it was the roots that went.

 

 

As soon as the top was down and I could come back down knocking timber down! I was a lot happier! [emoji106]🏻 not much spring though after the top went!
