There's not much stopping them. All of stihls stuff is already made in their factory in China so they only need copy the tooling and start production. There's no copyright enforcement over there either. Hopefully they get schematics to knock up a few 020t's!!

Well yea . Like VW Beetles were made in Brazil way after they stopped official German production . Royal Enfields made in India with original tooling from 30+ years ago . .

That's the core of the problem.

Such things are legit, and not about fakes and scams. It may be the original brand setting up production in a "foreign" country, or about license production - regardless it is legit.

What isn't legit (except it for all practical purposes is in China) is unlicensed copies. Reselling such products, presenting them as original, will be fraud in most of the world.

Read the post I answered . I understand what you say its not what I meant You can buy a " Chibson " Les Paul for £ 200 odd notes . Swap out the electrics for genuine Gibson , fit a set of genuine burst buckers , level the frets and you have a £ 450-500 axe pretty much as good as a £1000 guitar . Whats it all about ! ?

If eventually they made the saw exactly the same as the original in every respect then they could charge the same as an original .........

If they also priced in some R&D

Lets not forget that fake copying does have a major impact on future products.

I know speaking to manufactures that a ridiculous amount of money goes into developing and producing a product, this needs to be recuperated through sales. Does China have many innovative home grown products in production?

If we all bought fake gear be it well made or not we would soon stifle advancement. Just look at the improvements in the last ten years be it PPE, machinery or tree climbing techniques, how many of these came directly from the companies providing fake gear?

Dont buy fake gear, I have seen many a poor chinese copy chainsaw, yes they cut wood but that's where the similarity ends.
