Or you could charge enough for your grinding never to worry about the price of a set of 3 screens for only £136...

Ty:001_rolleyes:

Charged £160 for a 20 minute grind last week. Still prefer spending £18 on a board that does the exact same job than £136

I like the idea of a tarp and tube frame as it can be rolled up for storing away, but also I can use the tarp to collect cuttings from hedges, and lay it out over fancy paving etc, when repeatedly wheel barrowing over it. Very versatile bit of kit is the old tarpaulin. But is the woven type strong enough or do I need to go for the heavier stuff? Was using a Toro STX26 today, great little machine and with the rubber skirt round the head, it kept the chip from flying everywhere, but i'll probably end up with a smaller manual one which throws chip for miles.

So what do you lads charge for stump grinding? I know some are from £40 per stump & upto £400 for a day rate but do you have set prices for sizes or do you just gauge it by what car they drive?! ;-) just picked up a Lil praxis grinder & not 100% sure of prices yet.

We use a combination of the quazar modular stump shields, which look professional, are light and hardwearing, and can be pushed into the ground if windy, saves using stakes, expensive for what they are. Or 1/2 inch ply, cut into three strips, drilled and cable tied so they can articulate. Hinging them like thst means they don't blow over. Nobody wants to nick them and there cheap to replace from council timber recycling place £7.

We use this safety guard system, they are not cheap but when you think about the consequences of someone being injured, or the cost of damage to property, they are not that expensive.
