Kiln Dried 35 - 40% MC

Hi guys, just got a delivery of kiln dried wood today, seemed good at first glance. Lit fire, rubbish output. Chopped logs in two and getting 35 - 40% MC. Guessing I've been tucked up?

In the UK, don't want to give too much away on where I am as I'm not into the whole naming and shaming keyboard warrior type of thing.

Hope you are going to complain to your supplier , personally i would dump the lot back on there door step

From what I can gather kiln dried should be below 20%? Hoping to get a call back off them tomorrow. Really just wanted to check I wasn't being a bit ott cutting the log open and testing?

Packed into a crate or loose? Either way a rip off.

Below 20% is what most kiln-dried suppliers sell at and it should be quite a bit lower but it's often an average read on the surface.

 

If the surface is below 20 it should burn ok depending on the type of wood but if it's wet in the middle it's worth getting in contact with the seller, it might even be a mistake in the load they took you. Always worth letting them know regardless.

 

Worth checking a few logs as many suppliers give an average moisture content...
