On the plus side nick clegg has left facebore. Sadly it probably means he'll be on the lookout for another meaningless job title over here.

Sorry, Gareth, holiday blues or whatever and my mind is slow, that one is too cryptic for me.

That wasn't cryptic, that bastion of liberal shitealot nonsense nick clegg has left Facebook.

I'm sure his absence will be missed greatly!

It's the touchy feely bs of people like nick clegg, bob Eiger and others that have f'd the world with their lefty fake tolerance all whilst filling their boots/waders to overflow.

Yup, I reckon I could live in Greenland for a bit.

A pipe dream of mine, one day in the future, if the future allows, is to get a winterised boat, probably steel hull, with a wood stove and loads of insulation, and sail north to Iceland, eastern Greenland, and the tiny little speck a few hundred km north-east of Iceland, Jan Mayen Island, and do some ski touring right off the deck of the boat.

It's got a volcano, a scientific research station, and naff all else. Heaven.

If you are serious aboiut this then you need to take a read of 'North to the Night' by Alvah Simon - a guy who overwintered up there in a 36' steel boat.  He had intended to do the whole thing with his wife but she had to leave as her father was ill so he did the core winter bit on his own.  It wasn't mainland Greenland, but Bylot Island which is on the west side of Baffin Bay well inside the Arctic Circle.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll track that down. Sounds like a very entertaining read.

Friends of mine have gone exploratory skiing up in Baffin. That place is off the hook, yo.
