I disagree, Dave bought a winch off eBay as spares or repair not knowing what was wrong, he got lucky. Knowingly telling a mate somethings worth f all when you know otherwise is a different thing

:thumbup1: Surprised theres a discussion about it TBH!

£500 is not f.all

Besides Dave never used the winch so how do we know it was fully functional, the "mate" was buying a pig in a poke as well.

How is what you paid immaterial Dave? You're happy to talk what you sold it for and what you think it was worth.

Here's another vote for the werner!

There was a lad on unimog club page selling a hydraulic winch and bumper. I don't know how big the winch is and the bumper is for a u900 😕

It was fully working, even had an up to date LOLER, it was ex council, I even knew its history.

I wanted to sell it for near what it would cost me to replace it if the need ever arose. When the need did arise I found they were £2K. I asked the so called mate to return it for the price paid, in fact he still owed me £40 of the £500. He refused, but paypal'd me the £40. The friendship ended at this point. At least I got to see his true colours.

To be honest I think I misread your original post. I thought you said you managed to pick up the damaged winch for free (ie you didn't pay anything for it). Rereading it I realise that isn't what you wrote, you are actually saying that you managed to free it off and don't allude to what it cost you. My bad, sorry!

Either way, they look like a decent winch if they can be had for the right money!!!

So six months later you phone him up and ask him for the winch back for the price paid?

You're surprised he refused the offer?

Talk about wanting your cake and eating it!
