  1. Past hour
  2. About 7 times I think I saw them - Hammersmith odeon back in the early 80s and the last time was Milton Keynes bowl supported by Jethro Tull, another of my favourites 👍
  3. Oldfeller

    Mast

There was a time, when I lived a more "nomadic" lifestyle and lived in a Thames 15cwt van, traveled around to find very varied work, and lived on what I could trade, poach, or even find dead on the road, with a little imagination, or just plain hunger,,, a squirrel or two was a decent meal, perfectly edible, yes a little effort to prepare for not much meat, but better than no meal at all. soaked in brine, for a few hours before cooking improves most game, squirrel is no exception.
  4. Today
  5. Saw them a couple of times . A bit Genesis like .
  6. I don't dream of using tech stuff, nor do I use tools, machines, drive, sail, fish, hunt, etc etc I used statins for the first time 15 or so years ago and I had awful dreams and nightmares (and a few other side effects) until I changed them for the second time.
  7. I did the same a while back, they're still above ground, check first 👍
  8. Yes, I don't understand why someone just posts a video or screenshot/photo and nothing else, I just scroll past. If you want engagement then explain your point in posting.
  9. I read that Clint Eastwood had died and posted it up in the RIP thread ! As far as I now know he is still with us .
  10. Not exacting indeed especially in what seems to be an ever growing illogical world.
  11. Hi - Update: 2 roles. 1. An experienced climber with an interest in passing skills onto others, and undertaking hi-end technical jobs when required. Ideally 1 day a week but would consider a couple of days a fortnight or a small block every month. Role would probably end up being 50% doing bigger stuff (we have other operatives to do this work as well) and 50% developing other climbers, whether alongside in tree or from ground (more likely). There maybe an opportunity for the right person who is looking to get into a training role in the future. Get in touch to discuss further as role will be designed around candidate to a degree. Rates negotiable. 2. Qualified Climber looking at developing into a crew leader role. Ideally would want someone to be capable of medium size crown reduction / capable of rigging medium sized tree (60ft). Passionate about Arboriculture and driven to improve. 5 days a week. email to contact: [email protected]
  12. Agreed, but a better way forward than not even trying, which where Comes in as with the overload of information, other tools can help such Occams razor etc not exacting but useful.
  13. For Eggs there, we used to live in a world where the printed press had some truth behind it, the world changes to the internet where articles and opinion pieces are thrown out there as if they are true... and often arn't the whole truth. We've still got that mindset a little - as Eggs showed - believing the printed press as-is. Checking around is more important than ever, never trusting a single source and definitely view social media sites as an online version of "a man down the pub told me"
  14. Wish you fast and full recovery! Sadly there in Ireland very hard to get help before you are in critical situation , even if you ready to pay big cash still … delays!
  15. We are looking for an experienced Climber. Please contact Mark Jones at Braywood Tree Surgery Ltd - 07709-577606

  17. Thank you. Hopefully not just for comedic purposes!
  18. Of course I agree critical thinking is valuable, the idea that it can become “second nature” through repeated use oversimplifies the process imo. Critical thinking often requires conscious effort—we can’t always be on guard, nor can we fact-check everything we encounter. In fact, over-reliance on skepticism can lead to “paralysis by analysis,” where people distrust information to the point where it only leads them to reinforce their own view. This is how modern politics/media is triumphing over the layman….just sheer amounts of information which cannot possibly be fact checked at the time of delivery (depending on your appetite) leading people to run with their biases. We then fall fowl of a new age problem - people can no longer admit they’re wrong!

  20. Glad you got it sorted, one of my siblings has had stents fitted and has had 10+ years and is still going, sadly my father had one massive attack which he was never going to recover from. Hopefully you'll be back on your feet and getting fitter soon
  21. No, however you must be if you think that's an explanation.
  22. No requirement for an apology. Critical thinking can become second nature if you use it enough, but yes some things are not going to be known. Rather than choosing to accept things that we are told its better to check around for alternative viewpoints, the best recent story is the eggsarascal one, he either knew it was a lie or just took something on face value or saw something that sounded probable but didn't check the facts as it suited his view/bias. Lastly, bias. We all have them and part of critiquing is letting loose of biases, that's the hard thing.
  23. Enjoyed looking at your website. Andrew
