  1. Past hour
  2. I'm now moving into engaging freelancers more than being one so that was clever of me.
  3. You know what John you may have a point, when anonymous individuals are making cracks about people’s daughters and rape in the same post to try and gain a few points , especially having been pulled about bringing family in previously. What’s that all about. Anyone can say WTF they want about me personally, that’s the internet 🤷‍♂️but theres a line that includes kids and family at least in my opinion.
  4. Ive never came across this scenario before but then Ive only ever worked for people that I have previously known. Although I have to pay tradesmen x amount up front before starting building work to part cover the cost of material etc. TBH I suppose it isnt a bad idea to at least charge a percentage as AHHHHP mentioned.
  5. Pedsanesca (peds's puttanesca recipe) except I forgot to buy olives so I used a big mushroom I found growing under the tomato plant jungle in the polytunnel. Tinned tomatoes I'm afraid. Aforementioned tunnel ones aren't ripe yet. Photographed before adding a layer of cheese that would meet building regs. On peds, I spoke to the cheerful little hobbler the other day. He plays whist with the black bloke from the BBC televison programme interludes and has teamed up with a guy with bad arms to service their respective wives as one aggregate unit. He didn't wish anyone well but don't take it personally.
  6. That’s fine Mesterh, indeed I don’t. You got something relevant to the “ such as “ reply then fine. Riddles 🤷‍♂️
  7. I agree with that. You will probably struggle to get permission due to health and safety etc. No one is really going to grant permission to go and climb as they would get sued to death if something bad happened. I did a bit of rec climbing in the local woods while training in college, just make sure you have someone to spot you at the very least.
  8. As above, just soap and water then an airline. If that doesn't remedy the issue then I'm thinking of a replacement.
  9. @Johnsond I think you should take a bit of time away from arbtalk.
  10. That day didn't go as planned! Did the Disco but it needs a tyre and wheel alignment so left it at home and went back to Retford in the toy car and got a puncture half a mile out! Dear tyres those Hoosiers too! Then sat deciding where to get for a drink but got called to the FIL's, he has cancer and is bad! Waited for ambulance and now sat waiting for news! Tom coming up tomorrow in truck with Jack to collect wheel which means I'll have driven over 300 miles buggering about!
  11. I have done a fair bit of rec climbing in the past. I have been kicked out of my local park when I lived in Lewisham. I was only trying out a new bit of kit and was only 3-4 metres of the floor. The Narky Parky had a right go at me saying I was damaging the tree. He worked for Glendale. I told him the bad pruning done by Glendale tree crews caused far more damage than I would that day. We also used to go onto a public footpath across some parkland near a mates in Maidstone. There were some lovely large oaks so one day we climbed them, just got all the ropes setup and the land owner happened to be walking his dog. He kicked us off the land politely. Something about liability and if we hurt ourselves etc. My advice would be to get permission first, saves a lot of hassle or just get in with it and be prepared for the consequences.
  12. I was never into his music but he was a funny fcker and a right bit of a character. RIP
  13. Im fairly sure that you dont run this site, control this thread or are an admin, so I think that I might stay around a bit longer thank you.

  15. Today
  16. Yeah really Say your piece or**************** off
  17. I do it sometimes where it's not even necessary for my protection - to normalise it. I'm fed up hearing about scum clients taking tradesmen for a ride so I'm nudging the market towards being safer for us. Similar activism as charging what I dayrate charge for freelance climbing (usually starts with a 4 or 5, sometimes a 3 or 6). I decided rates were a piss-take and I was going to push them up. You're welcome. Or I'm a chancer. Whichever.
  18. What’s worth keeping an eye on the likes of you SP ie a sick obsessed deranged shameless anonymous prick who brings people’s kids into comments including rape to gain a few cheap points. You are lower than a snakes belly lad, a true internet wanker. I really hope you take up the offer to meet. As another member said you should be ashamed.
  19. You know,, like giving france loads of money and then them waving the rubber boats off to kent.
  20. There’s having opinions and there’s !!! Such as 🤷‍♂️
  21. The US is a good warning of what the UK will be doing in a few years, well worth keeping an eye on it.
  22. Loads of warning stories about this online - trades asking for full payment upfront - conclusion is usually a red flag warning. Exceptions tend to be if they are a small outfit buying in specific stuff that their trade accounts (30 days payment terms) wouldn't cover. Inspect and test you are only paying for time, trader wouldn't have any upfront fees. Worst case I would accept is to pay cash once they do the job / get here.
  23. Sandstone buried in timber is known to attract brand new 36" chains. Pointless trying to sharpen them, straight in the bin.
  24. Fair enough. Just because we have zero capacity to change things in other countries shouldn't stop us from having opinions on how that country is run though, especially when it can have a direct impact on us.
  25. Hi,my leylandi have started going grow and dying off from the base .this is affecting all trees in a row about 10,any help greatly appreciated MOV_0841.mp4
