A 14FT adjustable Henchman Tripod will fit on the roofrack of a Ford Transit Connect L2 (and other similar size vans). We use Rhino safeclamp to secure ours. You'll need atleast 135cm wide crossbars to fit the 14FT ladder. You can get away with 120cm wide crossbars if you limit yourself to a 10FT ladder. As others have commented, 10 FT is ideal for most things. 14FT is kind of unwieldy for 90% of the jobs, but is great when you really need it.

But it comes with 1.1 bar, I wouldn't bother buying a new bar. Also save power means longer battery life.

Well done, great to see these old saws coming out of the woodwork, excuse the pun, pretty sure there are plenty of these old saws lying around in barns and sheds.

The Makita has plenty of power to run a proper 1.3mm gauge 3/8 full chisel so wouldnt bother with the 1.1's. I've been running the uc002 on the 12" bar and chain that came with the 2511 clone and works very well, tho I'd like to get a narrow nose carving style bar for it. The Echo bars are too narrow at the sprocket end and would have the chain rub the casing, which is a shame as I have another spare one. The only issue with the Farmertec chains is the have excessively soft drive links. I was rashing up some hedge trimmings yesterday to fit in a bag, some got under the chain and pulled it off - and now half the drive links need deburring before they will fit back on the bar. The chains are great apart from that. The one on my 2511 and on 020T have done a lot of work without yet needing a sharpen.

stroke of luck last week, spotted a trio of old saws on marketplace,,,, in Scotland, I asked the fella if he would post them and to my surprise he said yes, I now have a Husqvarna F,70 , a Stihl 015 top handle, and a Danarm 1-71-. ss. all 3 are complete and the F70 was up and running after a service and a set of starter dogs, 015 needed a new pull cord and a decent clean-up and now runs great, still got the Danarm to look at but looking hopeful. Result.

My rule is 2 teeth. Can't throw a chain for one missing tooth, but once two have gone then more are sure to follow soon.

We've never stocked it, there's enough returns from people buying the wrong chain as it is without throwing another into the mix! It would be interesting to hear feedback from someone who has converted say a 201 to this setup, I think Stihl quote something like 10% quicker cutting when using a narrow bar and chain on the 261.

Wouldn't be too certain on that my family is from and mostly currently in Cornwall. My Grandfather Bruce, father Christopher Paul and uncle Steven moved up to Dorking for a while I'm not 100% certain when this was long before I was born and no one is around anymore to ask. I do have an uncle Johnny and uncle Johnothan but he's always called by his middle name Mark. Not sure if they went up aswell.

I'd have to measure and double check, but mine are smaller - probably 2m at full height A frame. Means you can do an 8 foot hedge, also super compact to pop in back of van. We used to have one size up where I last worked, they were also good. Bit like saws, you want the smallest ones you can get away with as it's all weight to lug around.

Not had any sizeable Sw Chestnut but it is so Oak like I'd love to have a crack. I've got 2 x 70cm by 2.9 m Oak butts tomorrow and the smell of the sawdust will be like heaven.

The taller one of those looks like it may do what I'm after. What size do you have and does it feel decently stable when fully extended? The 6.4 looks like its 3m as an A frame and £240. I dont mind paying that for a good one.

I remember father saying about these pair on the double ended bar might of been before going up surrey as he bought one of these 070s brand new in 1968 or there abouts then the other in an auction not long after.
