It's the manganese in the cans that breaks down the creosote on the flue lines, when the flue cools the creosote just flakes loose and drops,

I ahem( good excuse for beer) do this quite often as I have 5 'of helical flue into a 14 foot chimney and check it every couple of months only sweep once a year, only a handful of Krud , though the 90degree needs scooping out about every 6 weeks.

I mix any arising timber with seasoned timber......

cough cough, more like if the fire is hot enough to "burn" the aluminium, it is hot enough to clean the chimney!

Doh!

Well that stands to reason, but my stove spends most of its time tamped down so there is a cycle of cooling and slow burn.... Anyway saves facing how many beers I have knocked back🙈
