I wouldn't hazard a guess as to the exact protagonist of the Burl, but it's cambial reaction growth caused by stress to the Tree.

 

One from your list or possibly a combination.

Some funky grain in there Stevie. Rip that saw up! If I leave now I can be there with my Alaskan mill on Sunday. We'll say it had to come down because it had Bulging Canker.

 

that pic just doesnt do it justice mate, i reckon you would need a 6 foot bar to tackle her, that is the narrowest shot, it is more square than round. i just hope no more idiots have fires beside nice big trees. comunity woodlands.:001_huh:
