husqvarna 550xp and 560xp

after speaking to different people in the industry who own these two saws most of them have been happy with the saws when there going and not spluttering some have taken them back and had new carbs fitted these are just a drop in the ocean to how many have been sold worldwide

 

my question is how many new carbs have husqvarna had to replace worldwide it must be frightening how much its costing to put this warranty issue right

 

any ideas chaps :thumbup::thumbup:

The 560 reminds me of my old Saab 9-5 3.0TiD. Absolutely awesome power when it worked. Constantly eating parts and one heart-breaking fault after another. A bitter sweet experience. Now a Toyota Avensis that never lets you down and is far better day to day (it just works). You want a saw like that.

Had an interesting lesson yesterday. Was out in the wood pile with my 550XP and 576XP. Both used to be poor starters when hot, but settled down - or so I thought.

 

I ran out of Aspen, so I made up some pump fuel plus quality Stihl oil and carried on. The 550 in particular played up no end on hot starts.

 

I wonder if the problem I had back then - which was before I changed to Aspen - was actually vapour locking from the ethanol in the pump fuel. Certainly I've had no issues with it at all since changing to Aspen.

 

The headache, vile taste and stinking clothes were an unwelcome reversion, too :(

chap over road cutting with a 550 and he has got two both been back into workshop as failed only reason he has two was needed a saw to work. and the way he was talking they take there turn being fixed.

put me off a bit getting one now. but aspen sounds interesting.

that they work better.

he is looking at a different make saw due to there unreliability.

We have 6 560xp's n only had slight problems with one of them, it likes to cut out on idle if left n u have to choke it to start again,

Took my 550 back 3 times for mods, 4th occassion I got a replacement. That went back after 3 months of average use, I lost confidence in that machine (but not husky as a whole) and traded it in for a Stihl of similar size, agri spec. Starts, runs, cuts, not a problem, just how it should be.
