Ms261 or 346xp

The question is which new saw to go for?? I have an older 260 but had a play with a brand new 346xp the other day & was quite impressed after being a stihl man. How does the ms261 & 346xp compare?

both good saws,, but i like the 346xp, its a fantastic little saw,

but it all comes down to preferance, ease of getting parts (closest dealer if u aint using someone like fr jones) .

you wouldnt go wrong with either saw

346 husky for me used it today !

I have been using the 261 for the last month, which replaced my knackered 026. Noticeably less vibration. But it does not sound like a stihl anymore. I put it down to the spring av's instead of the rubber ones.

I like the new saw though.

Nearest stihl dealer is 15 mins away but have been using jonesy for my latest purchases. Was just impressed with how the husky felt compared to my 8 year old ms260!

personally the husky winns hands down , much more torque and i find them far more comfortable .

The 346 and I'm a Stihl man!

Or a Dolmar PS5105 from TCF engineering.

I had this dilema some months back and went with the 346; it's tiny which makes it nice and dynamic.

Having used all three (own an MS260, one colleague has a 346xp and another the MS261) I would say the 260 is outclassed by both the 261 and 346, though I can't decide between them. I'm certainly more a fan of the 357 than the 346, and would maybe choose the ms261 for it's lower emissions, fuel consumption and vibration.

I'm waiting for the new 560xp in August

I've always been a Stihl man but had the same decision to make a while back, got a 346XPG and haven't regretted it at all.

Huskys are cheaper and come with a 2 year warranty too.
