Hi I’m new to the Group my business cover ground clearance/ground works. just thought I’d be nosey and see what you guys tow all of your equipment around with? I have a 3.2 Ford ranger wildtrak what I can’t fault as it always has our 2.7t bobcat behind it with a plant trailer or a ifor Williams tri axle flat bed.

Hi, long time since i used this forum! Glad to be back! just need to get it on my phone now.. In need of a tow vehicle as my merc sprinter van isnt up to the job and has been a complete money pit. on its 3rd turbo now and still in limp mode. no one knows how to fix it! Got about £4000 to spend, open to any suggestions too! would need to comfortably tow my ifor 12x6 tipper to 3.5t with rubble. Defently manual transmittion. Seen a few discovery 3s on marketplace for about 4k with about 90,000 miles on them 2007 age. Any good or stay clear? I do love the disco3s but never owned one and worry a little about running costs, not fuel costs as will be high towing its arse off anyway. Cheers, Jamie.

using 4x4 to pull trailer in the woods?
blacknora posted a topic in Forestry and Woodland management
Hello Folks, we have been thinking of getting one of the road going forestry trailers to be able to pull it behind a hilux to bring it to the site and use it on site to extract to the roadside. What do people think? Good idea, bad idea? Downfalls? Lots of the sites here have bad access. We don't really have the capital to buy tractor as well and then even if we did we will still need trailer to get it to site so thats why we're thinking of going down this route. The hilux is 2494cc, year 2004, the trailer we've been looking at is fast tow breaked trailer from RIKO, which can come with flat bed or bolsters and has hydraulics to move the bed back and forward on the chassy to adjust the weight. They come at £14200 ex VAT - we'd get 40% of that covered by FFIS. Any experience sharing will be most appreciated! Mostly worried about overtaxing the hilux and wrecking it! -

Morning All, Can I have your interpretation of GTW.. So if a vehicle is a 3.5t'er and it's plated to 7t and you are towing a 1.3t chipper, can you then load the vehicle up to a max of 7t (incl towing thingy) or are you limited to the vehicle being a max of 3.5t, plus whatever your towing so long as it doesn't exceed the plate. Can we go definitive on this and what's your qualification. Haha Cheers..
