Focus on storage and commercial business space - May need some initial investment but will pay with little hassle pretty quickly. If it’s anything like my way secure space is incredibly rare and as such expensive. Caravan storage, business storage, yard spaces etc are the way to go - invest in some decent entry gates and cameras etc get some cash flow going and finance to build the next one. -
Have both the bullet and 360 cameras from rural view, they’re brilliant - both have sensor lights and hd night vision recording.

This stuff is not going on to fb or eBay it’s going straight into a curtain side/container and leaving the country. Organised crime gangs are not selling off a saw at a time - it goes to a buyer elsewhere in Europe wholesale. It’s clearly becoming easy pickings as little to no police presence twinned with little to no border checks means easy cash! Yards are getting done for everything - opportunists would take saws etc not chippers, diggers, trucks. Lack of police funding and reliance on insurance companies has created a perfect storm for the thieves.

Could a sensible, calm convo with the neighbour be worth having? although maybe not your preferred outcome, if I was your neighbour and you said you can remove the trees but you need to replace with suitable fencing I would think that’s a fair request! Least of all because you will be pursuing it further likely to cause continued time/money etc

I’m very jealous of the guys who have made it work for them! I had visions of my vizsla being a work dog however totally the wrong breed! I was aware of their specific breed characteristics however thought I could train him….. I was wrong! Thankfully the wife works from home mostly so it worked out but point of the post is really pay attention to the breed and how you can make sure his/her life is fulfilled not the other way around.

So do I but I choose to set my own terms with companies and do not hold the accreditations. What’s the point of holding a subscribed accreditation when companies still have their own hoops to jump through!? I don’t need someone to show a client that I have a modern slavery agreement because here you go I just emailed it to you along with everything else you require, only took me 30secs to email and I’ve saved myself thousands. -

Just have a chat with the client, suggest you can fulfil the criteria required and explain that you don’t need to pay a subscription service to do so. This approach has always worked with my commercial clients (multiple housing developers) and like yourself I refuse to pay for a service that ticks a box for me that I can tick myself. Of course it has stopped me bidding for large contracts but I don’t want that type of works as it’s crap. -
Haha his legacy - he doesn’t care about his legacy. The man spends most of his time out of his box on numerous podcasts pushing his new cannabis products. As I said it will go the distance as Jake will have paid him for it to do so, otherwise his strength and knowledge would spark Jake inside 2 minutes. It’s orchestrated heavily, like everything/fights in his life - Jake is a boxer he trains continuously but he also doesn’t fight (relevant)boxers because he would of folded out of the limelight along time ago. Even with age against him, Mike will see his right 10mins before he throws it!

Jake Paul will have paid Mike to go easy and lose - Mike doesn’t care because who’s gonna say he’s shit? Plus he gets a massive payday. If it wasn’t rigged Mike would go all out for 2 mins and end it first round.

In todays world people would rather complain and accept being poor/poorer than do something about making themselves richer. Yes, previous generations had a lucky break with house prices etc but we have never had it easier to up-skill/move around/travel/borrow money/enter higher level education - the list goes on and on! In line with OP - I am 34, own a house, a business and have worked abroad but I’ve changed careers (construction to arb/ecology). As the op suggests I’ve worked hard and at my age I'm pretty happy but I’ve have to retrain and move away from family to realise the above.

Talk to your client/company - as another post says it’s unsustainable and ultimately shit return. Charge for your travel (include depreciation, fuel etc). If I was hiring a subcontractor and was expecting them to travel that far for a job I would let them know location and await their day rate

Hi All, Getting to a point where it’s looking viable to purchase a 14t excavator, anyone open to have a chat about dos/donts, what to look for on a machine and spec I should be looking at for arb work. I’ve primarily used a kobelco sk140 over the years (hired in) seems a decent machine but I’d like to know ins and outs of maintenance/costs etc. TIA

I’m probably gonna go second hand, as my choice is bobcat but don’t want to pay top whack as currently it’ll be an occasional machine. Have you had a go in a doosan dx27z heard they’re practically the same machine as the bobcat. I just missed out on your e27 would have loved it!

I’ll defo take a look, not a lot of dealers my way though. I have to admit bobcat has always been my first choice and am awaiting price and lead time on one. I had a go in the sany yesterday, it’s an improvement on the zero tail swing, better stability and cab has been reordered so more space. I had a sany sy26u and hated it due to its instability but the price was right and with the warranty was worth the plunge (at the time) however seeing more and more of them in arb and wondered whether it’s a case of they don’t know what they don’t know in terms of better machines (or it’s the price). I am getting tempted with the zero tail at 31k arb spec with grab, but that’s only as the machines waiting.

Did you have a go in anything else? Currently eyeing up the Sany SY26(not zero tail) wondering whether to check a yanmar out!

I’m 6ft 4 and didn’t know they did a long shaft version - I have a standard 461’s as said great brushcutter but we use ours for shredding blade work. Upgrade your harness as standard is awful for long days

Thanks Dan & Paul for your comments. Thanks for the link Paul, food for thought. I wonder whether in-house training would suffice to show adequate training (from what I can see from the link it’s a day course and shows no accrediting body). It’s certainly not a prerequisite for this site more something that will make our works easier, as suggested I’m probably overthinking and maybe going down a rabbit hole. Cheers

We will be accessing using ropes regardless of height, surely this must fall into one or the other? We have nptc but not irata hence the question. We can have a concise/well formulated set of RAMS but doesn’t account for not having the base tickets.

Thanks Paul - due to the undulating ground a robo flail won’t work otherwise ours would be on it! Just trying to belt and brace it as its highways works probably over thinking it. Cheers
