  3. Hi is it from drive hub or mower motors? there are some on ebay Ernest Does a good contact or was as a main stealer i mean Dealer! Which model is it? one we had was four wheel rear steer 3 double gang rotors so two motors on each platform to fail as they often did leaving a snail trail off half mowed grass!
  4. Can always get it re nikasiled. friend did his Super moto bike mmm now that would be an interesting chainsaw engine! 500cc single was a Looney machine had it all rebuilt inc nikasil mind did seize it so had to redo it all! carb issue
  5. It's pretty useful saw must admit even handy to keep in boot for those stormy days when trees are all over the road! I only do trees now and again so not my main thing more for the fun of it and being out in the open plus learning new things
  6. Won't be for a good while i guess till compression drops too low? or something decent comes up for it Could you bore out and get a Mahle piston?
  7. Talking of Chinese bat wings cylinders you tried buying anything these days? end up having to buy Chinese bits even if get something from Yanky land 99% it's come from china then been jacked on pricing. So often in the end best to just buy direct as much as i hate it.
  8. Hi is it a worth while conversion?
  9. Hi yeah just been Hunting Wabbits and found 45cc. Could you put the bigger pot n piston on there? as while hunting found some if i rebuild sometime?
  10. Well after i threatened it with making my own removal tool (Old socket with cut outs! or thick steel washers drill for two old drill bits either side then them and an old socket welded on top) it's said ok i'm easy and rolled over as i gave it a tap with a smallish cold chisel to edge so all done!
  11. It's got 42 marked in blue marker from them
  12. hi yeah can see where it comes from and when tap cap out it's wet round it like it's pee'd it's self! Mucky Saw but on a plus note got clutch off
  13. Check threads are good and inspect fpr cracks around opening Hi can't see any cracks what i might do later is wipe round with some lighter fuel then colour it with black felt tip then wipe of so should see if cracks as gets into crack! but it seems to get past seal/ring round cap
  14. Hi welcome like you ive not been on here long. There are various levels in each brand of saw. From DIY to Industrial Class Which translates into used once in a while to seven days a week/more plonker proof. Industrial class has parts held more rigid ie crankcase has better resistance to twisting better filtration for using for longer periods between service bars are better oils pumps adjustable so can adjust for chain length and tree types. Proper bar fixings instead of some with a big plastic knob. One easy one was Bosch power tools you have the green DIY range and the Blue industrial Green the bearing and gears are held in the plastic case so start using for hours can lead to wearing with cuts not staying in line/straight has bits flex/move etc while Blue the gears and bearings etc are held in metal so all kept in line(New Chinese stuff excluded) Premium to pay and heavier often but pays for its self in longer service like"Or did see above" plus they are repairable which much DIY stuff isn't as service life is factored into build so once get to that points it's beyond repairing as cost goes beyond replaceable price. Luckily most chainsaws in the brands you mention are mostly fully serviceable. The Rancher gets good press Husky 346XP which i have has been great i got it used years back and had been used everyday i think and it's had lots of use since. I'd guess around the 50cc cap is a good size not too heavy or too under powered there are newer saws running smaller engines with thinner chains so more chain speed "Compromise" Many decent used industrial saws out there can pick up for a decent price once you get a few to look out for Also these days there are Battery saws also if only cutting say for an hour Another one if cutting in yard etc is Reciprocator saws can get an aggressive 300mm plus blades that go through wood like mad!

    346XP

Hi have an issue with fuel leakage from cap! Thought need a new cap! but got the 372 up and swapped caps over not leaking on 372 but is still on 346 wtf will have another look later and see if can clean anything that is stuck around hole i did clean seal and area but won't hurt to do again before i boot it out of window!!! On another note how do you tell if a 45cc or 50cc? mine don't have a decompression button or fuel blob running. 325/058 and how much compression would you feel turning it over by hand ? don't feel massive for sure but it does run well once fired up and cuts well even with rakers skimmed down a fair bit
  16. Funny enough i have a decent sized copper drift somewhere? inherited it so old decent copper. Even have an engineers mallet also somewhere!
  17. I did wonder so like quite a few things the best part is the packaging!? makes me think they are from china routed via OZ as china gear got a price increase(think they got fisted by choogie gov?)and the Archer gear got increased also. Trouble with China steel unless for high tech uses it's full of impurities! they import China Steel for building work (trying to do on the cheap)there finding issues with it going to shorten building life! So Saw chains wouldn't put much faith in them! But the Choogies do make some decent stuff not all tat. as they make some wood working tools like planes and spoke shaves that are the Mutts nuts not cheap either!
  18. Check Gumtree and flea bay as the Smack heads can't use Drugs converters as shut atmo
  19. Hi whats the Rep on the Archer chains? Said from OZ! but did notice that The Bat lovers stuck there prices up on Flea bay other day and they went up same amount!?
  20. Hi try this guy Chainsawbars - Selectors for chainsaw guide bars, chains and sprockets WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK Chainsawbars - Largest selection of chainsaw guide bars and chainsaw chain for Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo and Dolmar... He does all the bars also as there is a mount size to take into consideration also spacing out as 7 tooth 404 is around same size as 8 tooth 3/8 but you have to watch how far bar comes back onto clutch drum. But he will know the figures
  21. This guy does all the kit and has various videos etc on them https://www.chainsawbars.co.uk/alaskan-mill-videos/
  22. Thats only if winding out via bolt method.a three legged one goes round outside of clutch drum. We use to pull hubs/pulleys etc
  23. Trouble with the husky cans is there hammered "SHUT" from our prying mitts!?
