  1. Any reason why I should use this thing instead of the following thing? CMC DNA Carabiner | CMC PRO WWW.CMCPRO.COM Unique “helical-shaped” connectors with a twisted carbon steel body designed for 90° rotation of any...
  2. Smashing story, anyway.
  3. New thread needed I think!
  4. I'm going to save myself a bit of cash and invest in one of these bad boys instead of a GRCS!
  5. Can't argue with results!
  6. My sympathies. I'm off to climb some ivy in the rain. Edit Ahh, it's not so bad. I've climbed worse.
  7. Oak-ome on, and no malus intended, but I think yew should teak a proper look at it, and think of alder other species it could be.
  8. I run DeWalt batteries so I'm looking at this thing, but after 2 days wrestling a 4m griselinia down to shoulder height and another 2 in the near future, it's moving up my shopping list quickly.
  9. You'd need to add the safety squint too, just to be sure. Well I've just killed a wire one, maybe I'll get the nylon this time and race them.

    Career change

How old are you, Hereford? I'm currently 5 years in to the career change, I'm now 38.
  11. Solution: find a source for those honeypot ants, and have them farm your aphids. You can then eat the ants. Honeypot ant - Wikipedia EN.M.WIKIPEDIA.ORG Try not to let them escape into the wild, they might be invasive. But they sound delicious, so every cloud would have a silver lining.
  12. I recommend growing them at home, I'm taking half a dozen to my customer tomorrow because I have too many. Not sure how I'd turn them into Creon medicine to be honest, but at least if we cover some of the culinary side of production, that'll leave more for medical purposes. Any more knowledge on the subject?
  13. That was my exact second question! Does seem like you'd be more susceptible to ninjas sneaking up on you and such. I was hoping someone with first hand experience could quell my fears. Might just stick with the skinny ones, I have no complaints about them.
  14. Shhhhh! Don't mention bird flu! That's not my input. That's official government policy. Just don't talk about it, and it'll probably go away.
  15. Yeah, definitely wooly aphids on some of those. They can also be a vector for spreading diseases around a tree, or indeed sharing them to other trees. Focus on them, and the tree might improve.
  16. Companion planting, encouraging biodiversity, eliminate all chemicals from your garden (and your neighbours'...), and as a last resort, you can buy a box of them from the Internet. But... without enacting all the other steps first, they'll either die or fly away.
  17. Off the top of my head, the best solution for wooly aphids would be wooly ladybirds, but if you can't find those, regular ladybirds will do.
  18. Have you practiced applying it? I have an Israeli bandage in my kit, I'm fairly confident I could wrap myself up successfully with a leg injury, but if I'm applying it one-handed to an arm wound, my plan is to enjoy the view and bleed out.
  19. Wotcha The visor on my Vertex Vent is now more hole than mesh. Still got a few more years on the lid itself, and Petzl lids fit my skull just fine so I'll probably stick with them, even though I'll never look as cool as the Protos crew. I was just going to replace the MSA Sordin it came with, but is there anything to be said for the Hellberg below? Looks a bit clunkier, chunkier, but more durable... Any other visor recommendations, compatible with Petzl Vertex?
  20. Have a quick Google images search for "wooly aphids apple tree". Is that at all similar to the fluff you saw? Edit: Predictably, being a smelly hippy, my first bit of advice is to stop spraying the tree for... well, pretty much anything. But especially don't spraying antifungal if the problem is a wooly aphid 😉 Oh, and pictures of the tree would always help 👍
  21. Ash all day!
  22. Because our side doesn't have swastikas and Nazi salutes and stuff 🙂 Easy tell, that one.
  23. Well... that's a bit shit! Songbirds being killed by pesticides found in pet fur flea treatments | Birds | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Exclusive: Chemical in treatment for pet fleas and ticks is found in nests of blue and great tits, killing chicks Songbird chicks are being killed by high levels of pesticides in the pet fur used by their parents to line their nests, a study has found. Researchers surveying nests for the harmful chemical found in pet flea treatments found that it was present in every single nest. The scientists from the University of Sussex are now calling for the government to urgently reassess the environmental risk of pesticides used in flea and tick treatments and consider restricting their use. Cats and dogs are widely treated with insecticides to prevent against fleas. Vets often recommend regular flea treatments as a preventive measure, even when dogs and cats do not have the pest. But scientists now recommend animals should not be treated for fleas unless they actually have them.
  24. What's the story with that flat you got with your brother?
