1. Cheers Bob_z_l Yes it's very simple, I dropped the wood braces that hold each pallet together lower so I can cut straight through the logs without cutting into the braces I also set the pallets apart according to the size of my burner so I can cut in between the pallets and know each piece will go in the burner I've been using this actual one for over two years now
2. I use a old cheap maul from b n q, but I've used a fiskas ( the longest handled one ) and they are light and good My mate brought his sthil mail round the other day and that was weighty but nice to use As for a bench I use pallets and have put huge pieces in there as well as loads of little bits and cut through the lots easy As for kindling I use a hatchet rammed in a log then use a club hammer to bang the logs onto the hatchet I usually split logs by putting them in a tyre as it's quicker than keep picking them up, or I have my lad keep standing the logs up so I just go round splitting them At the moment I just split a few everytime I walk past them My main aim is to not spend money to Fuel the burner so hence the making of the work horse lol I tend to just leave piles of logs about until i put them in the log stores

8. Ok so the poem is not totally accurate But there must be some truth to it, or there must be differences from wood in burning efficiency Yes all wood burns as I can chop a tree and burn it straight away in the garden on the bonfire but don't mean it's great For the last 3 years I've personally been burning seasoned beech and ash and it's good Before that I was burning oak, apple etc and many other types and I'm no expert on wood but I had very different amounts of success with the varieties to some not wanting to burn very well to others not lasting and some giving no heat at all compared to others, I do have a moisture meter and all was similar in dryness. My point is not all wood does burn equal, I'm lucky to get all my wood for free so it's all good but some is more good than others Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
9. After he paid me I would have brought the wood back to him and give him a check for the amount I would charge to take the wood away, saying the agreement was to take all the wood away and as that was not met I have just charged for taking down and not the clearance and tell him his neighbour might want the rest too Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

19. I have 3 apple trees , the one in the picture and 2 smaller ones. All 3 of them produce loads of apples but since I've been at the property which is 5 yrs we have never harvested them as there are always bugs/maggot of some sort in them It looks like to me they go in through the bottom of the apple via the core bit. Any advice would be great as I'd like to harvest them for something. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
20. We have a friend that is way quicker than a single blade hydraulic splitter, as quick as me and my mate was both cutting into pieces he was splitting with a maul, and we did this for about 6 hours, he's like a robot Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
21. I was thinking of getting one too as the hydraulic Splitters seem too slow But I don't know much about either This bloke has got the hang of his one [ame] [/ame] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
