  1. Looking forward to the day when I commute to the office and not see any green space. 4 bedroom executive houses do nothing to help anyone if the new buyers cannot afford starter homes till their mid thirties. Locally loads of new builds here, but no new jobs in the town, no new facilities (community halls, churches, pubs, local shops), bus routes, but the builders do leave unsuitable-for-a-house postage stamp sized green space 'parks'. All these houses are are places to sleep
  2. I find my 'DIY warehouse' own brand lawn mower will get through a lot on level ground - including brambles. Generally I'll hedge trim the brambles in the wood down to 2" off the ground - enough to not catch the blade - though a lot of bending - and then mow the rest. Wear big wellies, steel toes, and discard the grass collector. Own brand mower so I am not sad if break it a bit. An option if you have a mower available. Other options above are probably better
  3. I'll take your lack of answer that you find a rapist, sex abuser and voyeur as a suitable role model. Would love to see your dinner table talk with your kids as you explain to them why these crimes are acceptable in a leader and role model, someone to aspire to be? (I am not sure I made any assumptions above, stated known facts and asked if you find them suitable qualities in a role model, someone to hold up to the family and say "aspire to be like him")
  4. So it is not the crime that is deeply upsetting to you, but just that an immigrant committed a crime (any crime counts). Why is that?
  5. No, doesn't look like a Tilley, loved the flare-ups when you got it wrong. AA Maglite I think, I think you can get LED bulbs for them now if you want 21st century tech
  6. Ahhh, back onto Migrant watch today then? why didn't you post about the school teacher (British) this week who was done for the same thing?
  7. Still got maglites knocking about, the AA ones are what you need
  8. Yup, they still want their ££ whatever we use (EV... can't tax from house electric - penalised those without cars and if you have solar PV + battery you'd pay no tax there)
  9. Yes, you are holding Trump up as a saviour, a role model, skipping past his crimes. Just asking if his crimes were nearer to home would you still be doing the same thing and admiring the man. So third time of asking, and I am beginning to think you are avoiding the answer because it is uncomfortable for you... If Trump raped your wife, grabbed your children by the genitals and then popped into a changing room to watch them all changing would your view be any different? This is what he has done. Raped someones wife and child (at least one), 'You can grab them by the pussies' and well reported that when he had Miss Universe he'd wander into the changing rooms of the 20 year olds for a good look. Note also that he was besties with Epstein... whose close circle of pals are also dubious.. but Trump alone is not, hmmmmm? and has also commented that he would be happy to sleep with one of his daughters (forgot about that one, was on the TV last night)
  10. But noting here it is hypothetic - no plans to do this and the last government toyed with the idea and that is why the numbers are readily available - the research was done months and years ago
  11. Which to be honest, at the worst case estimation 15p / mile and take off the approximated 6p / mile petrol duty, 20,000 miles would give an extra bill of about £200... In the grand scheme of things, not a lot. Zero rate the car tax and that drops to maybe £100? Drive only a few hundred miles year and you'll be better off That 15p is the worst case, there are a whole range of costs quoted from 1p up to 15p
  12. Yup and while you are in reading mode, if you can muster comprehension for long enough, a little on how the tax system works. It is a large subject so focus on how taxes set into law last year, the year before and longer will still become effective even if the start date is the future and there is a change of government. The tax burden will rise even if the government does nothing from this
  13. Not at all. So to highlight my views, and you seem to have skipped past giving an answer here, (why is that by the way?), I'll ask again, If Trump raped your wife, grabbed your children by the genitals and then popped into a changing room to watch them all changing would your view be any different? This is what he has done. Raped someones wife and child (at least one), 'You can grab them by the pussies' and well reported that when he had Miss Universe he'd wander into the changing rooms of the 20 year olds for a good look. Note also that he was besties with Epstein... whose close circle of pals are also dubious.. but Trump alone is not, hmmmmm? and has also commented that he would be happy to sleep with one of his daughters (forgot about that one, was on the TV last night) But you appear to forgive him for this and think he makes a good role model and leader. I do not. Why is that?
  14. Not sure where I stand on this but there is a drop in revenue for them from petrol tax which they need to get back. A massive change to how we pay taxes if there was though. Taxes are inevitable just how they are collected changes. Sure there will be some whinging from those living in mansions in the sticks but if done fairly the tax we pay should be similar however they do it
  15. Is that a bad thing?
  16. I know this is petrol station but everyones favourite warehouse DIY store last year had a few weeks where it was cheaper to buy solid oak flooring than firewood (I know it has varnish and so on and we shouldn't but 'apparently' it burns like a rocket)
  17. Not sure about the gearbox, can't remember if the transformers are oil or air cooled, a weight / size thing. In the order of things though, pure CO2, and windmills are better. There was a data centre I think in Wales, data centre under the council pool - heated the water for free and the data centre saved money by having a massive heat sink above it instead of 100's of air con units, definitely 'we', the world need to be more clever and joined up thinking.
  18. 'Laughing at me' for highlighting that Trump is a rapist, serial sex abuser and voyeur? And yet, you appear to support him and forgive him for this? You're an honourable man, no double standards, so I wonder, if Trump raped your wife, grabbed your children by the genitals and then popped into a changing room to watch them all changing would your view be any different? This is what he has done. Raped someones wife and child (at least one), 'You can grab them by the pussies' and well reported that when he had Miss Universe he'd wander into the changing rooms of the 20 year olds for a good look. But you appear to forgive him for this and think he makes a good role model and leader. I do not. (noting that he was besties with Epstein... whose close circle of pals are also dubious.. but Trump alone is not, hmmmmm?)
  19. Not at all, it was well publicised that the Tory tax plans are set the push income tax up and our tax burden to just over 37%... suggest you read the news occasionally. Given that the Labour party hasn't changed anything yet, that is the trajectory we are on. Well publicised.
  20. I'm guessing 'going off on a tangent' is relevant when the question was 'given that the US generates the 2nd most CO2 emissions, what are Trumps plans for that" (I've rephrased the question in hoping that the hard of understanding get a better understanding). My view... Trump... paid by the oil industry... will be planning to do nothing. Perhaps state issued tin foil hats if you live near a wind turbine to prevent cancers. He'll be playing playground politics of "Yes, I know it is better that way, but they are also doing bad thing, biggly bad thing, so we will do it too".. rather than striving to be the best, he'll be aiming to be 2nd worst.
  21. Can you describe what 'energy transition' is that the article is about? (my take is the change, transition, from an oil based electricity generation system to a renewable based system, but I might be wrong) Summary of the article: we need to use the expertise in the oil and gas industry to create the renewable electrical generation industry. Saves everyone 15 minutes to read the article
  22. There was a website last night, overall lifetime CO2 emissions windfarms about 30g / kwh and gas about 200g / kwh... I have thrilling bed time reading some nights!!
  23. Not sure but over the life the concrete is less carbon intense than oil... though running out of time today to check the figures Cheap... because of the way the pricing works... the rate they get is based on the price that the gas generators get (I think it is based on the gas generators). The excess from their costs is pure profit but nothing the generators can do about it they are contracted to receive that amount. Likewise they are contracted to turn off the windmills if there is too much power - given a free market they should be able to lower prices a lot and given decent energy storage be able to generate whenever the wind is blowing... hopefully someone with a remit for renewable energy this next government can sort that pricing out to lower our costs... but I think that depends on more battery storage being available to maximise wind turbine generation... I can see in 10 years that our electricity costs won't depend on the price of oil but be more stable.
  24. "Wind generates more than a quarter of UK electricity" (Wikkipedia).. free from raw energy costs, free from imports from Russia... where is the farce?
  25. Glad to see that you find the last President of the US being a rapist is funny, Johnson,D
