  1. Here, as in the US there is a confusion between 'asylum seeker' and 'illegal immigrant', to some the 2 are the same thing. So before illegal immigrants crossing the channel in small boats could be sent straight back to France, since Brexit those agreements were void. There is no mechanism for them to be returned, once in the UK they are here, cannot be sent back. This made the UK more attractive. Asylum seekers are different, we give them shelter under national and international laws until their claim is rejected (and they used to be able to be returned) or are given refuge status. In both though, the UK and the US there is a great deal of blaming - the past or current administrations depends who you are - and a great deal of forgetting who was in power when and caused / failed to address problems previously. Noting that Trumps rhetoric of expelling all illegal immigrants is hitting the buffers in the last few days now there is some realisation that they are not a massive population of criminals but the majority are in the US are actually working, earning, doing the shitty jobs that the rest don't want to do but are essential. Very similar situation to the UK, a minority are criminals (the same as in any population) but the rest just want to earn... and the only jobs available are the shitty essential ones no one else wants to do. Take away curry anyone? Delivered at the 'gig economy' with real time wages far below minimum wage... don't see many UK graduates doing that but we all want a Saturday pizza watching the BBC
  2. ...so why can't we do the same now? (suspect biggly that the ones moaning the most about immigrants are the ones who also supported this change in the first place)
  3. Really? Zero small boat crossings when Tories took power of course. A proper thriving industry created by their policies.
  4. Curious one that came up last night - Virginia Roberts (as she was then)... anyone want to guess which club she was working at when she was introduced to Maxwell / Epstein....
  5. went past there at the weekend, doesn't look 'right' now
  6. Trump is the headliner of the thread, it is a fair assumption that he is referenced in the comments. I note that you are new to the forum (a member for 10 weeks or so?), in the threads you can remind yourself of the topic at the top of each page Here look for: and you'll see what I mean
  7. I would be going for the educated types, as Sime42, suggests the accumulated knowledge of doctors, scientists, psychologist et al.
  8. Thought you'd all gone off topic over the weekend, but nicely brought it back to the current POTUS there.
  9. So autism and ADHD are spectrums, it isn't digital that you have it or not (kind of), in the past when most of us were growing up to be identified as having it you had to have very clear behaviours. Over time being able to identify someone as having them has improved, and can be identified at a lower level... and so more and more people get a diagnosis. Often makes no difference to their lives apart from being able to identify some of their characteristics and why they are different to others. Now there are a lot of people diagnosed, before there weren't. Having a diagnosis isn't a problem to the world, just one of those things. Nothing to do with the MMR jabs, measles jabs or other vaccinations - MMR jabs are given about 6 months before ADHD / Autism can be diagnosed as a coincidence. Coincidence picked up by mumsnet and RFK Junior, broadcast to the world as fact, but wrong, in fact anyone believing either of those 2 should be barred from having kids anyway.
  10. Probably better to ask the species later in the year when they are ripe. All of mine and the neighbours are 'small green' types just now - where I know I will get 'Snow White', 'big cookers' and next door 'small and sour' (I know what mine are, no idea what she has, came with the house). Not sure if it is the right thing or not, but if you can identify any branches on the tree that don't look 'right' lightly prune them, clear away leaves from around the base of the trees in the autumn. Chances are that if you have just bought the house these trees might not have been looked after so well in the last few years - apples do well to get a light 'hair cut' every so often to improve air flow round the fruit - better ripening and some disease control - if you want post some pics of the trees and someone might be able to advice if they need looking at. As for the apples - as oldfella says, perhaps peel them first.
  11. Some people would have looked at the lot you were being dealt and moaned, given up... some would look at it like you have as an opportunity and the universe giving you a hint... sounds like things are only going to get better and better.
  12. However the conversation has moved on since then - King Charles - good or bad?
  13. are you still talking about illegal immigrants or asylum seekers (who are here according to UK and international laws, legally)? See your link says "asylum seekers"
  14. There is a massive difference I think in how long you are invested for - Prime Ministers are fighting to keep their jobs from day 1, all their policies have to be pleasing else they are out the door.. look to the politics on this forum to see how quick the crowd turns if they are unhappy, where as the king in invested in being the king for the next lot of years... a long term project and has the foresight to look long term in the future. Could cause 'discussion' here but the House of Lords has a similar long term view of the world, rejecting the quick fixes that will break in 3 or 4 years but looking to a long term for changes.
  15. Seen that the last year - short sharp storm, covers lifted and toilet paper flowing down the road
  16. I don't know if it is PeteB's company or his cooking ability.
  17. For kickback, so long as you arent cutting with the tip of the saw the risk is reduced. From what you say, cutting at the middle of the flat edge will work for you. Sounds like you are sensible but if you haven't considered them then eye protection (a helmet with a mesh visor), head protection, gloves and leg protection could also be on the shopping list. Battery, no need for ear protection. As for speed, a petrol and battery chainsaw can both get the same chain speeds (outside of the wood), petrol generally keeps that speed higher for longer in thicker pieces of wood... but for small stuff - your 4" - both should keep their chain speeds pretty high and similar cutting times. If you ever watch youtube the speed test videos are never on thin branches... So I wouldn't worry about that
  18. Not sure if you have to pay for access but if I remember right 'BSI online' has all the standards
  19. Oh, so you think that Trump is named in the Epstein list? Never thought that you'd say that.
  20. A rare moment of agreement with you Haironyourchest, I don't think that Trump is named in the elusive client list either. I've been saying all along that Trumps involvement and guilt with Epstein is his silence, the enabling that allowed Epstein to rape multiple children where a word from Trump could have spared them. Trump did know, "he likes them young". However that does not mean that Trump is entirely innocent in sexual assaults and crimes... just not a client of Epsteins. I'd also go so far as no 'freebies' either from him... he would have been named by now. I would not however be surprised if more allegations came to light after Trump dies... much the same way as Saville and Al Fayad. Note also the image I posted earlier, Trump sees no harm in associating with sex abusers and rapists - see those who he wanted to appoint to his cabinet - it his world it is normalised.
  21. I'd echo that, battery saws are great - maybe not as powerful as a petrol saw for the same ££ but win hands down for convenience for smaller jobs - especially for occasional use. Great if you are using them in the garden and don't want to use the neighbours with a petrol saw and noise. For what you want 4" pruning you wouldn't notice any difference. Keep the chain sharp. With that size of branch you'd probably get quite a lot done before you need to charge the batteries too. For top handled, your hands are a bit closer together so a little less control - hands further apart gives a bit more control, but by itself this is not a dangerous hold.
  22. Now you mention it, yes select the squares with presidents
  23. Now you're getting somewhere, Epsteins best friend, the title holder of this thread, (rapist, serial sex abuser, multiple bankrupt, strangely quiet on Epsteins crimes, buddies with world leader mental cases...) ... Epsteins bestie... and when that bestie is in ultimate charge of the investigators that client list weirdly vanishes? Hmmmm.
  24. Yes corroboration, "For secondary care services, the UK’s healthcare system is residence-based. This means that you must be living lawfully in the UK on a properly settled basis to be entitled to free healthcare." "Hospital treatment: Hospital treatment is free of charge for people who are ordinarily resident in the UK. This does not depend on nationality, payment of UK taxes, National Insurance contributions, being registered with a GP, having an NHS number, or owning property in the UK. To be considered ordinarily resident, you must be living in the UK on a lawful and properly settled basis for the time being." This was from the horses mouth.... "https://www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-entitlements-migrant-health-guide" ... illegal immigrants, for example those crossing in small boats who don't make a claim for asylum through to holiday makers who overstay their entry requirements, or temporary workers overstaying (these last 2 are the types who come through airports... and look like you or me, but are rubbish on Farage YouTube clips).. illegal immigrants are not considered ordinarily resident and are not allowed NHS treatment. Hope a bit of corroboration clears it up for you!
