  3. Go talk to your local stihl dealer. They should be able to source an 880. There is a few left on dealers shelves and back cupboards. There's such a market in chainsaw milling, I'm sure it'll get filled. [emoji106]
  4. My other regular subby called today asking about any work. He's young (20) lives alone. I asked him if he's got much food in, Yeah enough to last the weekend he says...? Another 30kg gone. [emoji849][emoji106]

Anyone make any sense of this?
  15. Just got off the phone to hmrc. Nothing for SE. I've heard the 80% rumour. Still a rumour. Just spoke to my insurance people. It's business as usual. I said if nothing has changed by tomorrow I'll have to cancel all my insurance policies.
  16. Hi@gonger Interesting set up [emoji106] How did you modify the chillaskan? Yes I would drill no.3 But it's your bar [emoji106]
  17. Normally at this time of year domestic and authorised commercial work are starting, phone goes nuts. This year I've had solid work until about two weeks ago then it's just dropped off. The most calls I get now are from other arb type mates asking WTF are we supposed to do??? I've got one tree job this week and a few logs to mill. Might have to process some firewood. [emoji106]
  18. Went in to a farm shop this morning. Fully stocked. Spuds at £10 for 25kg Stacks of em. [emoji106]
  19. If you drill 1 or 2 the weight of the mill will rest on the detachable sprocket nose, Which will flex over time. All the big mills I have are drilled in the bar not the sprocket. And I still hand file on the mill. [emoji106]
  20. No mate all invoiced, bacs transferred. Small commercial contracts and milling. Rarely see a back garden now. And I get flack fir wanting to give an invoice and get a bank transfer. Cash is a liability. Especially if you're running a legit firm. [emoji106]
  21. In the SE world, it works like this: Yard rent: corona virus? Don't care pay the rent. Machinery: still need a payment on time each month mate Insurance? I'll find out tomorrow Private house rent: tbc...? Bills : pay up And as for the prospect of lone working with a chainsaw... SSP? £90 a week fir two weeks,IF you get the virus. Or sign on!!! £300 odd a month. Bit worried mate, got a family to feed.
  22. Don't drill the bar. Just clamp it. If you want a faster professional mill setup get a horizon panther mill. And learn how to sharpen the chain whilst on the mill. I only use one chain in a day milling unless I destroy it hitting inclusions. [emoji106]
  23. Noooooo!!!!!' Don't drill it! [emoji106]
  24. Ok, Can you post some photos of your mill? If it's a Chinese one, you shouldn't need to drill the bar. [emoji106]
