  1. Just tried this. No luck and flooded again. Started to hate this saw:001_rolleyes:
  2. No no problem, by all means I am not expert. I had an old husky long time ago, small one and not sure about the model, then I had mcculloch chainsaw 40 cc which I have used for 5 years and still keep it, and recently bought Makita 50cc DCS 5121. I did not own but just tried starting 056 recently. So I have limited experience but this saw is different.
  3. Without taking the saw a part, is there any other alternative start Procedure
  4. Tried this also and it did cough but never started. I am trying all of this without any bar or chain attached to the saw which suppose to be easy.
  5. Took the spark plug out and again it was wet, drained the fuel as per instruction again And tried but no luck. Tried this three times and every time it will flood and have to drain it again. The saw pulled back with huge force and nearly snapped my finger off.
  6. That is very kind of you. Will see how it goes, I have sent a message to the seller. I will let you know how I get on. Can such saw be started if decompression valve is not working?
  7. Sorry I meant the whole procedure a part from the last one. There was only one time that the saw ran for one second but died before I realease the throttle.
  8. Yes tried this also but it did not work. It is vey difficult to pull, nothing like the saw we tried the other day. Something is not right
  9. I have managed to do all the procedure several times. And have removed the plug three times and dried it as it was wet so I guess saw was floading.
  10. I have bought 075 and I am unable to start it. Seller did confirm that saw is in good working order. I have checked spark plug and there is good spark. The cord is very very hard to pull and sometimes As it will pull my arm off. I don't think decompression valve is working as it will not make difference if pushed or not. When spark plug off cord can be pulled easily. I have tried this procedure below but no luck And ended with bruised arm and fingers. Any suggestion. 2. Set choke switch on (to the rear) 3. Pull over motor until it "pops" or runs momentarily 4. Set choke switch off (forward) 5. Set the throttle lock on 6. Pull over motor until it runs 7. Release the throttle lock
  11. Worked for me. Excellent work and very nice music
  12. Thanks both for top advice, really appreciated.
  13. I am new to milling and would like some advice please. When milling using Alaskan mill what thickness and length of average boards. I know it should depend on what it is going to be used for but at this stage I am not sure. Boards will be mainly wild cherry, Oak and may be ash. Trees Diameter 16-28 inch. I have no access to lifting equipment but do have a trailer for transportation. Also to dry board is it better to leave them where I cut them in the wood for a year or so or they need to be covered, do I have to seal the edges. Sorry for the several questions and thanks for your help.
  14. Yes. Just tried with with my 50 cc Makita on some Conifer log in my garden.
  15. Milling will be in the wood, I guess 075 should be fine, it will be only for occasional milling so may be twice a year. Not sure what I am going to do with the milled wood yet. All this started after I have noticed few windblown trees in our wood, first one was wild cherry which hopefully will be my first milling experiences.
  16. Do you mean spare nuts for the Alaskan mill? I have not got the saw yet. Once I get it anything that I need to check/ test with such an old saw before start milling. What I deal bar length for the 075.
  17. you made me worried. I was suppose to buy Stihl 056 but ended buying Stihl 075 :001_unsure:

  19. My wife wanted me to buy this one so she can have a holiday in France.
  20. I was offered very nice 084 but could not afford it. May be I will get one one day.
  21. Hopefully going to collect my Stihl 056 tomorrow.
  22. 608 kg
  23. Thanks for reply. After some search on internet seems at first Makita DCS 1251 came with 0.50 bar but this has been replaced by 0.58 bar and I guess chain was updated to 0.058 so all good. So now I am now looking for 3/8 0.058 chain 64 link semi chisel. Which one you go for. Oregon and Stihl.
  24. Here is the bar picture.
  25. Just trying to order spare chain for my Makita DCS 5121 18 inch bar bar stamped as 3/8 64 link 1.5/ 0.058. But according to Makita website this saw chain is 3/8 gauge is 1.3/0.050. Now is it possible to run 0.050 chain on 0.058 Bar. I am after semi chisel chain. I found Oregon 73DPX064E online for £16.80 posted Which seems very good. Is this a good chain or you recommend a different Brand.
