  1. Thanks for the advices guys, looks like my tp will be up for sale and a ducker taking its place
  2. That was one concern I had was with wet conifer and if it would block up. Would be a right pig to clean out if I was blowing into a trailer! I always run at 2000/2200 rpm when chipping
  3. Yes my tp runs at either 1000rpm or 540rpm and yes it's rubbish at throwing at 540rpm but realy good at 1000rpm
  4. Yes true. I'll have to get her on the scales.
  5. That's what I wanted to hear!! I've a tp at the moment on one. Yes the ducker has a blower on so I guess that's a bonus. It's supposed to be 5.5inch any way. Would be great if it would blow I to a trailer as well, would make it a right rig! I'm hoping to fit a crane on the back end if I can find the bits, which will balance the mog out as I'm a bit worried of doing an endo in it!
  6. Just wanted to see what people say about front mounted ducker chippers. I want to mount one on on my 406. I've heard there good but it's always nice to hear from people who have run them. Cheers
  7. Haha oh yeah!! I need to try it on my black mog..... then it will be some thing special!! Saying that my old tp 760 runs well on the black one. Sorry I digress
  8. You have to love a schliesing! I've an old schliesing turntable 6 inch. Behind a mog it out chips any 6 inch road ive used and loves eating timber
  9. Nice rig! What size chipper is it??
  10. I know a lad that has one of those types of backs for sale if anyone is interested
  11. Ur not the only one! There's a few nice smaller new mogs on ebay. The older u900's are getting a but long in the tooth unless you know it's history. Saying that, the earlier square cabs can be as well!
  12. We which type of unimog are you after?? And what spec?? There are a few types
  13. Yeah she's an ex snow blower. It's a great cab, warm in winter and really easy to jump in or out of when your out on a job She's got a knick name of ugly duckling, no idea why
  14. Yes, sorry my fault there, forgot it's a 130 till after I posted
  15. Check what the gross weight of the defender is. Not all are 3.5t. My defender weights 2.2t empty and is plated at 3050kg
  16. Looks a nice rig Ian. A mog always gets attention as it drives down the road ( good bit of advertising for free!) As it's been pointed out, I'd consider the hiab on the rear, especially a demountable one. Looking forward to see how she turns out!
  17. That's one one the reasons I've stuck with trust insurance. I can talk to someone with in seconds of calling there number and talk to someone who at least has heard of and understands the gear we use in our work
  18. How do they manage to do that!?! Surely it's all the same nfu company working with the same insurance companies??
  19. Think I need to have a look round next renewal time! I rang my local NFU and they didn't know what a unimog was. They said they would ring back and never did. Couple of years later I rang again, they gave me the same answer and again never rang back!
  20. is that for just one mog Stephen? My no claims don't seem to make much difference! Forgot to say I'm covered for any driver, with a higher premium for people, under 25
  21. A pic of the pair of mine in the yard
  22. Haha you better get your are down to the mog meet then mate! I'll try free up the spider frame to get the articulation back. Wonder how she handles doing 60mph off road? Apparently I only have the small cone splitter?!? I've done probably done a couple of hundred tons with it and it's still going
  23. The flaps are usually the first things I take off! And yes I always were my helmet on as well
  24. I'm with trust insurance. Think I was 600+ third party and fire with anything attached to it being covered
  25. Cheers Stephen :-) she's a bit of a beast. To be honest I've a hydraulic one on order at the moment only reason being if I'm doing stringy timber ie willow, poplar, it takes a bit of work separating the fibers that the screw doesn't split. I doubt you could beat it with a hydraulic splitter if your do straight grained hard wood. It's also great when it comes to knots. It rips them apart if you have the hp. haha the orange is the Din plate. It's just the colour my mate painted it
