  1. Cheers ntbrenna. Yeah that gear box works the same as the square mogs (the 1400 at least) and the levers are a similar layout as well. Just looked at that 1500 link, that would be a great rig but yes, think it's a tad high on price. Might be worth asking him though:thumbup:
  2. They seem to be like land rovers, you either love them or hate them. I've 2 mogs, the one I'm keeping is a bit of a beast (I've talked a bit about it on the unimog rock thread)
  3. Ur not the only one that said that but I did that with the mog I'm trying to sell to help pay for the trac
  4. Brilliant That's the list of info I was after! I take it when you say the bigger mb's have gear boxes like unimogs and lorry's, that the box is like the square cab mogs? So push the gear stick far right to change up to higher gears (5th, 6th, 7th, 8th gear), far left to drop down ( 1st,2nd,3rd,4th gears) I guess it would be better to find a bigger chassis mog that only has its 7 gears avaliable, then open the gate for 8th after I get it? I presume there was a reason 8th wasn't avaliable as stand?!
  5. It wasn't me who had the engine built so I don't know the full spec on it, but was told it had a lot more to give and was built with bigger intentions than what it is at the moment. She's enough of a beast as she is so I think she will stay the same... unless I find a nice turbo manifold that fits
  6. Give it to alex price and a couple of other lads
  7. Yes, the extra hp is nice to have. Just need to be steady when driving it, don't fancy a new gear box in it , no turbo on it... yet. I've not found a decent way of doing it and I'm not just gonna cut a hole in the engine cover.
  8. Thanks for all the info lads It's always good to hear opinions and experiences on gear before shelling out on new gear
  9. Yeah its surprising how much goes in the trailer, but could do with a longer chipper chute to blow over the side of the trailer. Yes, the mog didn't notice it really. Saying that she's supposed to be 165hp
  10. funny enough I've Come across pics of your mb trac elsewhere Yeah I'd heard about the 8th gear but wasn't sure if all the bigger ones had this? I'm not to worried about the speed as I've a mog for that. She's rather quick on the road so would take her for the furthest jobs. How are they with the low loader on the back? I'm just off to look for the mb trac Facebook page....
  11. Thanks, I've only just started using this set up. Seems to be working well (usually dependent on the the mog and if she wants to play ball ) yes I did mean to say draw the trailer off
  12. sorry. It was a surprise for me! Trying to work out which is better, plate back on or run for a bucket:laugh1:
  13. Proper mean machine then
  14. If I remember right, all 30+ ltrs comes out when you take the plate off so might want a bucket ready Love driving them with a straight exhaust
  15. Here's another vote for the werner! There was a lad on unimog club page selling a hydraulic winch and bumper. I don't know how big the winch is and the bumper is for a u900 😕
  16. Cheers Stephen, i needed the van as well to fit all the gear and rakings up in so had the road tow come along. I've a Schliesing linkage mounted chipper that I could draw the chipper off but the mog would sit it to high to feed.
  17. I get the joy of being able to use a, was brand new, new holland t5 115. It's a nice place to be for a days work (I'm used to landrover and old unimogs so most stuff is nice!) But with its particular filter being blown out every 5mins as it doesn't get massive long run outs, and all the switches on the hydraulics I'm not sure it will be around after 10yrs before the owner gets fed up of it all and gets rid! There's a reason I have older mogs and landys:lol:
  18. First time I've had this setup out. Worked well, just had to do a but of chip shoveling as the chipper spout isn't tall enough to blow over the trailer boards.
  19. Think your right that only the bigger models with reverse drive, i'll have do dig around to see if the 3 pains of glass is right. Would make spotting a reverse drive easier!
  20. Now that would be a useful rig! What size is the mog that the chipper is on?
  21. Just shows, merc were way ahead of anyone back in the day.
  22. Think that's a good point about the speed. It will never be as quick as my mog but I wouldn't get one for the speed. Yeah I'd looked at Fastracs, but feel the only ones I can afford have been used to within an inch of there life's. I also have a few people I can turn to easily if I have a problem with the trac (plus the trac and mog will be fairly similar in the engines and gear boxes i think?)
  23. Its mostly for the tree side of it ie, timber/chip trailer instead of the mog but I also have my hand in a bit of ag work, ie paddock work and baling work for the horsey lot, I must admit, having the mog and mb trac are things I've always fancied having and if I can have them as work tools all the better as far as I can see!
  24. Can't beat a good tyre hum:thumbup: Yes, I can see that would be great with a mulcher on or general mowing works. As much as I'd love a brand new valtra or fendt my little budget won't stretch to one of those and the mb trac seems to be a good old style machine that could almost keep up with a modern rig? Has anyone used one on more of the agricultural side? Not just hauling?
  25. As long as trac's are a bit comfier and have a radio I don't mind too much. They sound like the massy 698t I borrow,
