    Covid-19

From my time in Finland J the biggest difference for me was the huge amount of cycle, walking and running paths. Didn’t matter where the road was either in built up area or out in the sticks it was built with an adjacent pathway. All ages used them to cycle incl kids to schools etc, cars obeyed the rules to the letter at crossings. Even in winter you’d see people cross country skiing on them. I’ve 11 year old twins whom live 3 mile from the village school and there’s no way I’d let them head out on the roads on bicycles.
  2. Was the finish you first had obtained with the factory supplied blade ??
  3. Blade tension is spot on around the 25ftlb mark with a final visual check of how blade is tracking on wheels, you soon know if tension is not right. Only thing that might help to get a better finish is a different tooth set angle or blade type to match whatever timber you are cutting. I can post up dozens of links to rough cut timber showing the same saw marks, there are numerous videos on how to actually duplicate the look on timber if it’s the finish you want. Mind you it could always be the fact I’m not looking for a great finish or am easy pleased 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
  4. Been cutting like that since day one Les, set up absolutely square on a proper strong trailer bed, always use fresh ripper 37s. Other than that what else is left to do 🤷‍♂️. Ill take some pics of the woodmizer LT40 cut Elm boards later on, they show virtually identical markings. The saw marks whilst visible are very very shallow as I’ve said and not enough for me to even worry about, rough cut is rough cut if I want dressed I’ll plane them. One pass at .25 or .50 mm will normally be more than enough.
  5. Few pics of the finish on mine too. Whilst visible they are so shallow it takes nothing to get rid of required. Brand new blades, tension is spot on with it tracking fine on both wheels. Oak, Elm and Cherry.
  6. As I posted earlier i was looking at a load of elm boards cut from a set works equipped woodmizer and they were pretty much the same. Mind you I’m not too fussed about the ultra smooth finish and do tend to push on a bit with the cut.
  7. The equally spaced lightly grooved lined pattern is what I’ve had with mine from day one, it’s more visible on some types of wood than others. The grooves are visible but so shallow if it’s a dressed beam I’m after I find one pass with the planer set at .5mm is enough to remove them all.
  8. Most cuts I make on the mill have that finish to a greater or lesser extent depending on type of wood I’m cutting. I’ve seen a pile of elm slabs cut to 1”from a computerised woodmizer and they had the same. Im no expert but i have found with my 130 if the blades set at the correct torque and sharp it will cut accurately all day no problem. The finish is often worse than good high standard chainsaw milling but that’s been mentioned many times before on here.
  9. Had a quote from the saw doctor I use to sharpen the ripper blades I’m currently using. If and when I try them I’ll post up any pros or cons.
  10. As above has anyone had any experience of using these blades??. Coming in at substantially less than ripper 37s. Cheers
  11. Well hopefully coming sense plays a part in getting children back to school. Strange to see MSM now swinging to reporting why kids can’t go back and actually reporting the absolutely minimal risk rather than full on scaremongering. If vaccines are what it takes then teachers should be a priority.
  12. I see one of Lee Rigby’s Killers is in hospital poorly with Covid. What a waste of NHS time and money. Hopefully justice will be done.
  13. A route to normality or the birth of a two-tier country? Debate grows as vaccine ID cards appear ever likelier APPLE.NEWS Access to restaurants, public transport and council services among things that could be... Sign of things to come !!. Little bit of MSM coverage, no outrage or complaints by anyone and before you know it it’s policy or worse still law. We seem now 12 months into this to be under more and more and more guidance/laws as every week passes. Blaming noncompliance by individuals has long since lost any credibility.
  14. Ok cheers Up in Aberdeenshire 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🙄.
  15. Great place you’ve got Andy for kids at that age bud. Precious moments 👍
  16. If only 🤷‍♂️ I know one guy who’s house is gone and several others whom are on rock bottom. Hmrc are showing zero interest in the past years events. But the facts you quote is what I’m hearing from this sector ie we’ve been flat out. Me personally I’ve had zero in the way of grants etc. Like a lot of self employed i fit outdide most of the eligibility parameters, not through dodgy dividend schemes etc I might add.
  17. True Mark but in reality many people have had zero choice but to borrow to try and save businesses. I think talking to individuals within the industry the Arb/tree/forestry game has got through this reasonably if not very well, many others have been utterly destroyed by the adoption of lockdown and it’s subsequent effects as the only way to tackle this.
  18. Cracking set up. For 17yrs old Ben it looks like you are doing just fine as is bud 👍.
  19. Nope 17/21 it was, death or glory skull and crossbones and all that. 1 squadron only was on Cyprus, still using ferrets and Saladins at the time, I think the remainder of the regiment was undergoing conversion to challenger 1. Various armoured regiments provided a squadron on 2yr rotation as resident armoured etc, resident infantry battalion was on the same 2 yr rotation.
  20. Lol no wonder you kicked back at being referred to as Cropper, Small world indeed, you weren’t in Cyprus in the 80s as resident armoured squadron at Epi by any chance were you ??. You guys had a breech let go I think on a Saladin during that tour. My regiment had a 4 tonner come off the road from troodos. Did my motorcycle test under the auspices of 17/21 instructors in a scheme put in place after a trooper called pepe lost his legs in a motorcycle crash.
  21. Five ways the lockdown could be made even tougher as coronavirus rips through UK APPLE.NEWS Some experts have called for lockdown measures to be made stricter such as face masks being... Curfews and 1 hr exercise limits !!!. how about making the Vaccine rollout a 24hr a day 7 day a week UK wide operation instead, rather than bringing in even more draconian and destructive controls.
  22. Yep numerous Harold steptoe types getting excited at woman’s chainsaw trousers, you know who you are 🙄🙄
