  1. On one occasion I tried suggesting that if they had been in a bad RTA, and had broken both legs, that offering to crush their arm would not really help the recovery. The customer (not client) took this comment very well and it helped them understand the tree's situation better, and we did some sensible pruning.
  2. Morning all, Want to get some hammerite smooth yellow on the little Jo-Beau I am recommissioning. It will be dry before it's off the brush in this heat. Then pressure washing the patio chairs and table, much more fun.
  3. Morning all, Couple of local woodchip deliveries this morning then more weeding at home. Even better last week, took the woodchip straight from the tree job to the paying woodchip customer. A load of woodchip brings in less money than logs, but far less work.
  4. You have to undo the input end of the grease filled tensioner, push the idler wheel in to put slack into the track, then stretch it back on with a pry bar. Easier on a digger or mewp as you can lift the track up from the ground. Guess it would be harder with a tracked dumper.
  5. Morning all, Weeding duties in the garden, with the boss. So much for the "day off"🤣 Had my first experience of having to put a track back on mewp yesterday. Sorted, and from now on will carry the appropriate pry bar with me!
  6. Morning all, Dry here, maybe rain later. Second day on mewp job pollarding. Think it will run into a third day, but fortunately allowed for that in the quote. Third day won't be until Monday though, Friday off is written in steel reinforced concrete. Never understood the in laws naming their daughter steel reinforced concrete.
  7. I love my Echo 2511 tophandle, but it is the worst saw I know to get going after putting chain oil in the fuel tank.
  8. I am normally size 8uk for chainsaw boots, but when I changed to Scafell Lite I went down to a seven.
  9. Morning all, Mainly dry here, possible rain middle of day. Hey ho, off we go.
  10. Morning all, Dry cooler day here. Couple of regular hedge trims then getting the mewp set up in the village for tomorrow's and Thursdays job.
  11. Stop scratching those balls, on with the smalls.
  12. Unfortunately you get what you pay for as a rule. I would recommend avoiding boots that don't have a Vibram sole, unless you know they have a good reputation. I used Haix for years, then changed to Meindl as I felt they had a better heel ledge, as Doug says. They were great until Meindl ditched the Vibram sole and whatevever they were using instead only lasts a year before the layers start to delaminate. I am currently using Arbortec Scafell Lite and find them really comfortable. One of my team drags his feet a lot, and the Scafell Lite have coped well with this.
  13. Morning all, Nice day here. Bit of fun with the roads - the A road through our village has moving closures along an 8 mile section for the next 3 weeks. Of course the back lanes in the area have random closures/works too. Have fun all.
  14. Goodaftermorning, Lovely day here. More pottering about aka playing, then back to work in the week.
  15. Having gone over to zigzag and art positioner 2, I could never go back to prussic loop or blakes hitch. Do you use a slack tender pulley? I completely agree about not using rope grab on a (steel cored) flip line though.
  16. Morning all, Blue sky again here. Lazy ish day pottering about with refurb of little Jo-Beau chipper and taking it easy. Stay cool, have fun.
  17. Morning all, Cooled down here for now, but 24 degrees later today, similar tomorrow. Fetching timber from yesterday's job, then pottering about in sheds and mowing lawns. Have a good day all.
  18. Morning all, Another scorchio. Glad it's mewp today not climbing. OK under the crown until that final bit comes off the top of the tree then scorchiooooooo.
  19. Morning all, Yes indeed, 24 degrees today with 28 forecast for tomorrow. Suncream again then.
  20. Indeed I have. I had an M300 some years ago. Sold it due to lack of use. Then found we could do with one, as you do of course. Got it stripped down now, not a lot to replace and it will be as good as new. Solidly built, and a capable machine IMO. Waiting for the new rotating discharge spout now.
  21. Morning all, 25 degrees today, 27 on Wednesday. Time for the suncream. Two smaller jobs today then in the shade/shed to do spannering on an old Jo-Beau M300 I bought over the weekend. Stay cool
  22. Morning all, Nice blue sky here. Have a good weekend when it gets here.
  23. Morning all, Grey, drizzly and humid. Getting less humid later. Laurel and conifer trimming today. Be good, be safe.
