Morning all, Yesterday's potential for neighbours arguing about hedge height turned out really well. Had allowed 2 days, did it in one. Neighbour's got on ok, we were even served cake with the coffee😀.

Morning all, Today’s job is reducing the customer’s neighbour’s overhanging wide laurel hedge. Both parties to be on site to agree on final height!

I agree with what peds says about the fat apical bud, but the bark looks more like lime to me. Also the upper crown looks more like the pattern/busy nature of lime rather than horse chestnut to me.

I have had exactly the same problem twice with my Jensen A540 turntable with the same Kubota engine. Obviously not when tracking as it is on wheels, but when under load chipping. The cause was the inline fuel filter between the fuel tank and the cartridge filter being block with crap/debris etc. Easy fix, replace the inline filter, and I carry a spare one with the machine. Usually no need to manually bleed the system, just remember to open the vent/breather knob on the injector pump.

Morning all, Ditto here Stephen. Yesterday's mewp willow dismantle turned into mostly climbing, due to a wall more in the way than I expected. This morning the new knee is fine even after working on spikes, in fact the least achey bit of me! Got to go back for the timber next week and handball it out over a wall. Have a good weekend all.

About 20 years ago I was up an ash tree over the road, with stop/go sign traffic control, with a highways permit. An idiot in a big flash merc ignored the stop sign and kept on going. I was so tempted to just carry on cutting, but gave in to the urge. WTF to the power on N? Whenever we have TM in place I pay/charge the customer the extra cost for an operative to remain on site - independent witness and less hassle if lights play up. As a rule I have found posties to be the worst offenders, can't let the mail be one minute late.

I have a 2009 Kubota STV40 compact tractor, 40hp, which I rate highly. I have converted a Fairey Land Rover PTO winch to hydraulic drive quite easily and mounted this on a 3 point linkage ground anchor. Only used it once so far but it worked well. With a bit of fabrication for some mountings I can't see why an off the peg hydraulic winch could not tick the box for light duties. It's never going to be heavy duties with tractors of this size, although I have been known to anchor the back of my series 3 Land Rover to a tree to allow the PTO winch to give serious pulling power.

Morning all, Lazy Friday for me, going to see friend. So having done 3 days of hedge reduction why did I quote yesterday for another one. Three reasons: One mile from home, nice customer, right by the excellent butty van. Oh yes, fourth reason is quarter mile to the chip tip site.😊

This machine was built as a project. We used the multi-tip cutter wheel from a scrapped grinder and my welding friend and I fabricated the very robust adaptor frame to mount it onto my Bobcat E10 minidigger. The digger pins are 30mm diameter. The engine is a 21hp Honda V twin, bought new from my local Honda plant dealer. The bearings that mount the cutter head were replaced, as were the bearings in the belt tensioners. The fuel tank is hinged and swings open to allow access to the battery. The long cable to the digger is for the dead man's switch on the digger. The cutter teeth are multip-tip, which are readily available. Equally they can be sharpened with a diamond wheel on a small grinder. The black mounting cradle the machine sits on is included, as is the wooden dolly beneath it. The cradle has adjustable legs to make it easier to fit the machine onto the digger. The video shows me using it for the very first time. After getting used to it I can operate it a bit more smoothly than in the video.£2,400
