  1. Morning all, Further rain all morning here. Manual hedge cutting this morning. Hopefully starter motor for tractor will arrive so can be in a shed this afternoon🤞
  2. Morning all, Rainy all day here. Going hunting to try and find a local starter motor for the tractor, rather than ordering online. Then see what the rain is like. No such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing.
  3. Morning all, Been in Cornwall for the last week, nice break. Going to massacre (aka reduce) a Laurel hedge at home today. Think that can count as pottering as unpaid and domestic.
  4. Morning all, Another sunny day. Log splitting and sawing, tidy one more hedge at home, then off for a week. Hope the APF is good fun for all concerned.
  5. Morning all, Still dark outside. Fine day looming weatherwise. Nice connie dismantle today. Have a good day y'all.
  6. Morning all, Looking like another good day here. Simple hedge trim, then a quote, then some more log splitting.
  7. Morning all, Misty here with sun and 20 degrees forecast. Enjoy it while we can.
  8. Morning all, Optician check this morning then off to friends for a lazy weekend. Have a good weekend when it gets here.
  9. Morning all, Bit of rain to start with then dry hopefully. Small pair of local jobs next door to each other today. The weekend approacheth.
  10. Not me guv, private plates aren't my kind of thing.
  11. Morning all, Rain rain rain here. Doing a quote and staying indoors/in the workshop type of day for me.
  12. Morning all, Another hedge and magnolia prune today then mowing if the rain stays away long enough.
  13. Morning team, Nice and wet here. Wide Laurel hedge reduction today. Going to put my waterproof overtrousers on before setting off.
  14. Weekend pottering will include helping my neighbour move a pile of topsoil. He can have the shovel, I will have my little Bobcat digger. Lawns to mow. Crosswords to do.
  15. Morning all, Second day dismantling two ashes, using subbie climber. Went well yesterday. Doug, you have my sympathy with having to remain polite with busybodies. Stephen, perhaps you should only count digging out the stumps as pottering if you do it manually!
  16. I reckon taking that connie hedge out can only be classed as pottering as presumably you did it with the shear, sitting in a nice digger cab. Had it been with a chainsaw might be a bit of a stretch to call it potttering, but then then I suppose the village goodwill job swings it as a potter overall.
  17. Morning all, Couple of ash trees to dismantle today and tomorrow. Got a younger man with a younger body in for the climbing. For once, a customer who wants the wood taken away. Yippee!
  18. Morning all, Nothing like a flat battery for a good start to the day. No pun intended. Not my battery but one of my men's. Oh yes, power line lads on site at 9 for us, best go pick him up then hadn't I.
  19. Used the rebuilt Jo-Beau M300 for the first time today. The lads were impressed by it, but I knew what it was capable of from having had the same model some years back. Taking it out later in the week when we are dismantling two good sized ash trees in a rear garden that is a bit tight for extraction. Plan is to put the smaller brash through the Jo-Beau in the rear garden as customer happy to keep chippings. Then take larger cordwood/brash out through tight access to the bigger chipper and chip into the chip box on the truck.
  20. Morning all, Dry now here. Quick bit of MEWP work today to remove an oak branch over a shed roof. Tree owner worried as crown had a tearout in wind 12 days ago and doesn't want the neighbour's shed to get damaged.
  21. I'm reading the pottering thread on Arbtalk. Does that count as softcore enough to count as pottering?
  22. Morning all, Light rain off and on here. Small job doing odds and sods for a domestic customer. Early finish maybe then log up a customer's spruce trunk from last week for her.
  23. Morning all, Off to Manchester for lunch with our middle offspring. Nice to see him, but can't say being in the big city does a lot for me.
