  1. Morning all, Same here - hard frost and wind free. Family weekend then back to work Monday. Have a good weekend all.
  2. Agreed. Nice is one thing, but I have no wish to revisit Monaco. Half a day was plenty for me.
  3. Nice. Three days teaching English as foreign language in Monaco (not my cup of tea), then two days working remotely as an architect for a firm in Glasgow. How the internet has changed so many things eh?
  4. Morning all, Lazy days till Monday for me. Eldest coming today till Sunday when he goes back to France. Bit of admin this morning then domestic stuff.
  5. Happy New Year all, Still in bed, listening to the rain. Coffee, breakfast and crossword, walk dog, then lazy day.
  6. Absolutely so. Amazing how he carried on working so long. I can't help but feel that it is no coincidence he died so soon after having to retire, perhaps a loss of raison d'etre for him. I loved his shows.
  7. Having used cheap and cheerful disposable Chinese motorcycle intercoms which worked really well, including background noise suppression I have changed over to the Protos intercoms. Purely due to changing to Protos helmets. For what they cost the Chines ones were great, but for the climber they were prone to catching on branches and being pulled off/having their mounting plate broken. Also note the comment re modifying PPE if drilling helmet to mount securely. Having the whole thing located in the ear defender, with no arial seems a winner from the start.
  8. Morning all, Dry here for the morning, so off to (mechanically) dig out the conifer stump from yesterday. Just got to avoid gas water and electricity, wherever they may lie. Happy New Year all.
  9. Morning all, Decent day weather wise here, so off to a small local job on the ground. Lovely woodland in his rear garden with a buzzard's nest in it.
  10. Morning all, Lovely blue sky here. Dog walk, load van for tomorrow then lazy day.
  11. We can hear the mice or ?larger rodent in the loft, traps not caught anything yet. Hope it doesn't get to the wiring. Fibreglass insulation is not nice to work in.
  12. I'm finding this thread quite interesting and informative. However it still occurs to me that Confuscus was right when he said "better for tree to fail before arborist does work than after". Can be quite difficult at times to know what is best to do.
  13. Regarding what you call the water shoots are you referring to the epicormic shoots coming off the trunk, or the regrowth on a previously shortened branch on the right side, about a third of the way up the crown, or the much lower limb above the fence? In my area of of the tree officers is great, and says removal of epicormic shoots that can be removed with a handsaw does not need permission. Anything other than this, unless totally dead would need permission. The only exemption is if it is to meet statutory clearance over pavement/footpath or highway. A tree officer from a different local council is nothing like as flexible and has previously told me I need to apply for permission to remove any epicormic shoots.
  14. Morning all, Dry and foggy here. Doing a quote this morning then some pottering.
  15. Morning all, Going for a dog walk this morning, then maybe start getting kit sorted for Loler.
  16. Maybe not quite the answer OP had in mind, but it certainly made me laugh when one of my friends send it to me.
  17. You can’t call it huge unless you had to get the drain rods out, or had to get Dynorod involved. No, photographic proof not required 💩🙈
  18. Morning all, Days getting even longer now😀
  19. Happy Christmas everyone Our middle one is 35 today
  20. Morning all, Sorry to hear about the yard theft Doug. Some real scum bags out there. On a brighter note, have a good Christmas everyone, and hopefully 2025 can be a better year for the world.
  21. Morning all, Been given my kitchen duties for today by the boss. I find the trouble with making cheese sauce is I have to keep testing it frequently. Mind you, I even test the cauliflower when it is raw. Keeps the M1 southbound moving!
  22. Morning all, Blue sky alternating with sleet and snow here. Crazy but true.
  23. Morning all, Shortest day today, more daylight soon.
  24. Hopefully to a paying customer, rather than a giveaway? I manage to sell all of my deciduous chip, even it it waits in the yard for months.
  25. Nothing on the horizon for the other knee, though I agree about mostly in pairs. Mine was due to an old fashioned cartilage removal aged 13, before arthroscopy existed. This cured the problem of a torn cartilage with a congenital cyst in it, but the price being premature osteoarthritis that started years ago.
