  1. Morning all, Dry with max of 20 degrees here. Sounds good to me.
  2. Morning all, Decent day here. Nice sycamore dismantle today, just hope the customer has sorted out all the neighbours' parking as requested.
  3. Morning all, Nice easy day cutting back woody shrubs to 4-5ft above ground, for a nice customer. Have a good day y'all.
  4. Morning all, Lazy day with family home. Four have gone off to do a 5 mile run (crazy people), while I get brunch sorted. Looking like a dry week ahead.
  5. Belated morning all, Office work in the cool indoors, then early start to weekend. Struggled with the heat last two days, we have have any lead in to acclimatise to it.
  6. Morning all, Hedgework today. Not used to this heat! Felt drained by it yesterday, even though only using mewp.
  7. Morning all, Blue sky and dry here. Pruning a large cherry tree today, thankfully I can get the mewp into the back garden to do it.
  8. Morning all, Supertramp summed it up. It's raining again tra la la la. Cutting back overgrown garden today, think I'll put waterproofs on.
  9. As we all know you get a surprise every so often. I was once trying to winch out a six inch max diameter laurel stump, and I was on firm dry tarmac, the sort with nice sharp stones laid on wet tar, not smooth shiny stuff. Could not believe it when foot on the footbrake, pull with winch, and "Sheila" as I called her moved and laurel stayed put! But yes, the winch was quite useful occasionally. Still find use for the PTO winch on my series 3. That's my old mewp in the background, served me well for years.
  10. For any eagle eyed Renault Dodge afficionados, yes it is a mark 1 vehicle, but with the later mark 2 cab fitted. The original cab was a double cab with a lot of rot. I managed to pick up an ex military mk 2 cab, in sand coloured paint, absolutely rot free.
  11. I had this Reynolds Boughton for some years. She eventually went via ebay to a sheep station on the Falklands Islands. Did about 12mpg when chip box full.
  12. The father in law is 100 per cent in the wrong. Just tell them you are not doing any more until they can all respect your rules. I think if you just said you were not doing any more under any circumstances that would still be perfectly reasonable. I could use many words to describe my thoughts on this idiot, but nobody else has particularly lowered the tone of the thread so far, so I won't do so either!
  13. Morning all, Dry here till this afternoon. Late start for a small job. Got to wait until after school run and the on street parkers have gone to wok in next village along from me as very tight access into customer's drive. No room for chipper, thank goodness it is only a small weeping ash. Any weeping ash is bad enough for dismantling.
  14. Morning all, Proper day off today, going to see my sister just outside Nottingham. Oh no, forgot, she has lots of trees. Oh well, can only look at them today in clean clothes.
  15. Difficult to understand the market sometimes. I had been having less enquiries, like most people reported, but it has picked up again. Lead in time is 6-8 weeks, and I am soon going to have to turn away jobs I would normally want, as I anticipate a knee replacement in November time. The surgeon has said he won't tell me I can't climb if I make a good recovery, just be gentle with it. Can't say I have the youth and energy to be anything but though!
  16. Pleased to hear that from you. Totally identify with that sentiment, I'm more relaxed at work again now.
  17. Morning all, Small local job for a couple of hours as it's not raining! Happy weekend.
  18. Morning all, Mainly day off today. Bit of office work, mowing the neighbours' (yes two of them) lawns later if the grass dries out. Have good weekends all
  19. Morning all, Drizzle all day here. Jungle clearance today, so no need to climb other than a couple of tall laurels. Lots of checking for birds in the lower laurels though.
  20. Morning all, Grey and drizzling here. Dismantling an ash today, at least it is nearby.
  21. Morning all, Sun is hibernating, cats and dogs raining down. Thank goodness for a pile of timber undercover needing logging.
  22. Morning all, Nice here all day according to forecast. Day 3 of 4 on a nice local job. Carpe diem.
  23. If it keeps running all the time it is unlikely to be the pressure sensing switch for the motor, because if that was faulty it would shut the motor off once 2bar is achieved. I think a leak somewhere after the compressor pump is an option, or that the pump is faulty, eg head gasket or flap valves.
  24. You're right in your understanding Doug. Just left me feeling very pissed off. Doesn't help that he lives next door but one, but we managed to agree to differ and decent neighbourly relationship.
  25. Morning all, Sorry not checked in for a bit, felt a bit peed off after trouble with subbie. Got my head back again now. I wonder if Comrad Kier stuck to his word and did not work after 6pm last night as it was a Friday. He kind of set himself up to fail one way or the other with his comments about not working after 6pm as PM🤣
