  3. Dogs dinner? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. The Machine going to be used on site for other work prior to the felling so only additional costs for me is the grab for a week. No trees will fall into the road but for the sake of putting a couple of signs up seems a sensible thing to do. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. Hi All, I have recently been given a small site to clear fell in exchange for the timber. It's just over half an acre of ash and syc roughly 12-16 inches at the bottom. The land owner all ready has a felling licence as he is part of a management scheme. Not seen the paperwork but will heck before we start work. The site has a road bordering it with a earth bank, we will be felling up to the bank and leaving the smaller trees that are in the bank in place. Apart from ensuring the felling licence is in place is there anything else? I will be putting up signs on the road before the site warning of tree works being carried out but do I need to inform highways of the work even if I am felling on private land? The road probably gets about 20 cars a day max and is single car width with pull ins to pass. As you can probably tell I am a bit out of my comfort zone with this being my first decent size clear fell job so any help is appreciated. Just to add we have a 8t machine with selector grab booked to move and help with any trees that are leaning towards the road. Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  8. If you work it out, say 12l ish a week, that's nearly £50 a week with aspen,200 a month compared to say £6 peterol and £2 oil per 5l is about £20 a week. That's £120 saving per month roughly so app ads up! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. Would it be ok just to cut the live from the switch to the thermostat? Or so I need to remove the parts also? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  16. Can't find a definitive answer on this so thaught I would ask! Got a new 550xpg conning in ge morning and it's my first saw with heated handles. I have been reading issues with heated carbs on saws causing issues and folk disconnecting them, is this easily done or can someone tell me how to do it please? Many thanks Tomm
  17. Hi all, Plant hire prices around here seem to vary so we end up ringing around before we get anything. Out of interest I was wondering what other people pay for handlers and skidsteers weather it's a daily rate or weekly rate. Managed to get a handler for week after next for £240 plus vat and delivery for the week, Thanks
  18. good evening all, I am looking to build a website for our small log business, I have been reading through previous threads and it seems to be the general opinion that wordpress is the best for the website and 1 and 1 for hosting and the domain name is this still the case or is there anything else I should be looking at before starting thanks
  19. Where in mid Devon?
  20. Not one vote for a still yet! Not a fan of outboard clutches so rules out 395. Don't think I have enough to warrens the 3120 plus think I'd need a week to recover after using it! Shame hoe the newer generation saws are still being out done by the older generation, I thaught the 576 would be ahead of the 390 371 gen!
  21. Hi all, apologise in advance for another chainsaw thread, have read through most threads on the subject. Currently have a 550xpg on a 15, a echo 620 on a 20 and a 460 on a 25. Looking to buy a saw to run a 28-30 inch bar, had my mind made up on a 661 but after reading through this site I am now unsure weather to go 576 or 390. No experience of husky saws as 550 is only a couple weeks old and I haven't had chance to use it that much, New saw will be purely for ringing up hardwood on the ground. Looking or any sujeations on what to get Thanks in advance Tom
  22. Axe site:Arbtalk.co.uk on google works better than the search box
  23. Ended up ordering from an online company as no luck on hete, still on the look out for more before spring
  24. South west, not in the delivery zone unfortunately
  25. Looking at buying a 661 from fr jones and taking advantage of the finance option as work is a little slow right now. I heard that if you buy the power head only then the new rules don't apply as it doesn't have an uncovers sharp edge? If this is not the case is there any way around it like sending in copy's o certificates etc? Thanks in advance
