  1. I can recommend the Stihl. Been using a couple that are 3 years old. Had from new, no problems and plenty of power and quiet compared to the older model blowers. Brilliant machines. Only ever used hand held Husky blowers so cant comment on there back pack.
  2. Does anyone else who owns a Defender experience having to put your hand up to every passing Defender? If its a jolly driver or they catch me in a good mood I somethimes wave.. Why do I get waved at? Is it just what Defender drivers do? When I drive my Fiesta I try putting my hand up to fellow Fiesta drivers but I never get a hand back!! Does the wave happen to anyone else? Would be interesting to know...
  3. My trailer high sides are made from wardrobe doors! Still going strong even after a couple of years of hard graft. Haha
  4. Any ideas what Fungus this is? Think its on a dead Cercis Thanks
  5. Diversify into other stuff aswell- not just forestry. Think everyone needs to stop being negative. It can be done with enough hard work, determination but somethimes it can be done to luck. Everyone has to start from somewhere. Youll build contacts and machinery over time.
  6. Doing some thinning on a cold crisp sunny day in the winter. Basicly like the weather this week. Keeps me in a good mood.
  7. Course and sea fishing. Suppose my Defender, seems to take up alot of my time.
  8. Thanks Has anyone used an Oregon battery chainsaw? Seem to be fraction of the price compared to stihl.
  9. What are peoples experiences with battery chainsaws? Worth investing? If so what make?
  10. Hi I am looking for a Ransomes Turf Track any condition preferably drive able. Anyone know where I can find one? Or something similar. Many thanks
  11. This is what I got so far: Porridge for breakfast Cold pasta or sandwhich, homemade cakes, apple for lunch No way is it going to beat a cooked lunch!
  12. Starting a new job in the next few days where there isn't lunch provided. Back to the old pack up for me! As its going to be a physical job, how important do you reckon it is to have a healthy balance pack lunch? Any suggestions and what works for other people? Many thanks!
  13. Its really just there for the birds and wildlife. Just need a solution for getting rid of some weeds as its really over grown and shading the stools and giving them unnecessary competition.
  14. I have a coppice mainly Hawthorn and Damson. It is over grown with nettles and other weeds. It was only coppiced last winter so the growth of the stools are only 2ft tall but they are still shorter than the weeds. Whats the best way of dealing with this? Leave it to do what nature does best? Spray with round up or will that damage the stools? Any ideas would be great. Strimming would be a very fidely job.. Thanks
  15. My 1993 110 high cap just hit 175k. Loving every mile in it!
  16. I have about 2 acres of self set Ash trees. Im trying to create some nice trees to fill in a gap between two woods. I have been thinning with a brush cutter for the past 4 years. Wondering if any one knows a quicker way so that I can do it more than once a year? Photo take couple of years ago.
  17. I just wanted to try and protect from the rust. Or at least damage limitation.
  18. I have a 110 high capacity and would like to give it a paint but not sure how to find the right colour. Has any one got any idea? Thanks!
  19. I suppose I have 6 or 7 cubic metres of it. Maybe more. I have a log business but never got around to prossessing them and just left them in the woods. Selling them as soft wood logs or mix them in the logs that I normally sell? I assumed they had no value.
  20. I have quite a few Aspen cords in various lenghts. Do they have a use? Apparently not good for burning, as it produces little heat and burns quickly. I just don't want them going to waste. Should I just let them rot where they lay? Thanks!
  21. Thanks for everyones responses. Until you really look into it, you dont realise how much choise there is! Only thing I got against the silky is that if it breaks of bends you got to get a whole new pole. Jameson, Aus look good. But do they get bendy with the amount of connections in the? I have used Wolf before and cant fault them apart from max extension when it becomes very wobbly.
  22. Im in the market for a long handled pole saw. 5 or 6m would be good and maybe the option for a lopper attachment. Mainly need it for cutting back ride, pathways and small trees. The best I have found is either a Silky or Jameson. What do people reckon I should get? Im open to other suggestions, as I really can't make my mind up! Pice isn't really an issue. Thanks :-)
  23. My big Westwood Gazelle tractor. Currently converted so it can cut grass. During the winter it is used along side the 110 to get wood out of a SSSi :-)
