  1. nous avons le droit de penser et de parler librement , nous sommes tous chrarlie ...... juste ne pas mentionner le mot m
  2. Try telling that to the left wing socialists that think everything's ok so long as the person who shouts fascist first wins
  3. To be fair my comment was a childish dig because I had a comment removed. Je Suis Charlie.
  4. Fascism, I hate being told what to say and what not to say because otherwise there will be trouble. Fascists really do oppress opinion and free speech like no other !!!!!!!
  5. I did logs a bit years ago but found as a tree surgeon it made more sense to keep what I personally needed and sold the rings and cords by the trailer load to a merchant. My reasons for never doing logs again; Trouble with logs is, (unless it the only form of heating in a home) not only is it weather dependant, but I think it's a bit of a luxury if you have gas/oil central heating that's cheaper and more efficient. Peopl love a fire but it's the first thing to go when there's no spare cash and the last thing to come back when there is!!! Your a bit static imo. You earn some customers, sell them some logs. Your logs are either good and dear, or cheap and nasty but that's the basics of it. And as previously discussed in this thread, there will always be someone cheaper than you!!! At least as a service type business like tree surgery, you start small, fight like f### to keep going despite the gypos and eventually (if your good enough) you move away from the jobs that gypos can do for beer money and end up in a different league where things like qualifications, insurance, and good business practise are the only way you can get the better jobs. As I said not for me, log guys are better men than I. Hard work imo
  6. If you talking about those lads the coast guard are looking for, I have no idea. Possibly drunk??? Poor lads and I feel for their families. Can't imagine being told the search for a relative has turned into a recovery operation.
  7. It says no mot but I thought recovery vehicles were mot exempt but not sure so check for yourself. £1200 for a smiley tranny with no t&t seems a lot when you can get a good tipper of similar age for £1500 all day long.
  8. Grey and windy but dry. Good beach day. Only coz no one else will be there lol
  9. And just to stir the sh1t pot, how many on here complaining about farm subsidies don't claim any child benefits etc that are available to them "because their rich enough"
  10. Derailing it again; I'm very pro farming. I blame the super markets. They force the price down so low that an average sized farmer can't make money and small farms never get going. This forces (along with a few other "green" policies) the subsidy system to ensure that we can basically feed our selfs as a nation Not only do they force the price down on food, because they literally employ millions of people they help set the wage of the country. All these large companies like tesco and morrisons have a huge amount of swing and by refusing to pay a higher minimum wage to thier employees you suddenly find yourself in a position where your forced to subside every home under £40k?? A year, with working family tax credits, child benefits, housing benifits etc etc etc because other wise homes on a wage of less than £20k a year will just starve to death. So the government subsidise the food production so the super markets can buy it cheap................and then they subsidise society so the supermarkets can sell food expensive. Think on it
  11. That's one of those " it's cool enough to just look at" trucks. I'd have that as a garden ornament if you can't get it fixed
  12. So (unfortunately for a lot of you guys) I can see a day in the not to distant future where climbing trees with harness and ropes will be the exception and not the rule. Hse will make it very difficult to explain your way out of " why arnt you using a mewp" whenever there is a climbing related accident and that'll be it, climbing will be historical like the ancient art of basket weaving and driving on the phone. I think they're breaking it in slow but it will be implemented. Just the same as ropes and harnesses were, as soon as they were seen as available and affordable it became the rules.
  13. Mat you are a true gent. Thank you
  14. done a few quick searches but before I call my local council, does anyone know if I need or even if it would just be better to have a waste transport licence of some description. Of coarse this only relates to logs brash and chip from site to yard etc but I can't seem to find a straight answer. Thanks in advance.
  15. I'll second all of that, but I'd Be surprised if the springs are knackered. And if the bumps are present but the tyres are rubbing when loaded I would suggest a build issue. It is quite surprising how much travel a Landy suspension has and adding longer/extended bumpstops would only solve the problem if it was riding on the bump stops when half loaded which it shouldn't. Even if it sits on its bumpstops it shouldn't rub (standard body work won't rub even without bumpstops and the chassis sat on the axle ) I would suggest loading it till it rubs and see where the axle is in relation to the bumpstops. If it's rubbing before it touches the bumpstops its a build issue. One suggestion to fix it might be spring spacer style lift kits, but be carefull, they can make the handling horrible because they change the geometry of the suspension. Hope this helps.
  16. My parents place has some lovely big beach trees. Just outside wiveliscombe. I can check with them if it'd be ok to bring a friend. I'm a bit worn out for commercial climbing (old shoulder injury) but I occasionly go over just to play and practice aerial rescue. Pm me if you'd like my number.
  17. Finally worked out how to put pics up with the help of Steve Bullman, (many thanks) to find I don't have any that arnt embarrassing
  18. 15t behind a mb track or similar at 18mph is going to be lots different than 4t behind a Landy at 50mph
  19. TMB, That would be awesome
  20. Land Rover 110 and also like one on the transit eventually.
  21. Having watched it a couple of times I can see that they were trying to avoid the power line to the left of the shot. I'd of thought that taking it off above the fork would have been better but then again it's impossible to get the full story from one angle, hence why we "go" to quotes rather than quote from a pic in an email!!!!!
  22. Any bright ideas on mounting a vice on a truck for ease of sharpening saws, and basic on site repairs?? I did have on mounted on the front bumper of my old series 3 Landy years ago but it looked dangerous and I wouldn't be happy to do it again. Needs to be accessible and mounted securely but not dangerous for pedestrians/ passers by Thanks in advance
  23. would never dream of it, but I did borrow my fathers Passat the other day and found a recipt from the scrap yard that stated his all up weight 5400kg!!!!!i always knew he pushed his luck (farmer) but that shocked me. Btw, if you see a blue 61 plate passat for sale in somerset............avoid like the plague!!!!!
  24. 4200kg??? Dunno exactly either, towing is wasted on me untill I do my trailer licence but yeah it's pretty cool. I will try and add some pics but it's a bit involved for this time of night so will try tomorrow
  25. 12 mpg is still a lot of anything!!!
